So I’m teaching myself to knit. It is a slow-going process, but it is really fun to be learning something new.
I started off by heading to the library for some books.
I also bought a few sets of Knitting Needles. I wanted to try out a few different sizes, and see which one worked out best for me. After three years with a crochet hook, knitting needles feel pretty strange and awkward.
Practice, practice, practice. Different yarn, different casting on techniques. Unraveling started project after project.
I then went to youtube to watch a few videos. The books were helpful, but I found watching others knit really clicked with me.
About a week of practice, and I’m slowly getting the hang of the knit stitch, and the long-tail cast on.
Next I need to learn how to purl and bind off. And maybe then I can finish a project.
I hope to continue learning to knit over the winter months. It is a fun new hobby to keep me busy.

I love that you’re trying to knit. The needles feel too weird in my hands, maybe I just need more practice! Esther can knit and watch TV, and talk on speaker phone all at the same time lol. She’s so talented 🙂 Can’t wait to see your first finished project!
