Gas Prices and Holiday Travel

Last Friday while running errands, I noticed it was time to stop off and put gas in the car. I drove past a few gas stations, and hoped the I could put off the task until later. Gas prices were up to $3.14 here, and are set to rise even higher with Thanksgiving this week. Ouch!

I have (maybe) three trips to make this week. We are driving to my Sister-in-Law’s for Thanksgiving, and then maybe to my Brother’s for Thanksgiving evening. I also have a day off planned (out of town 20 minute drive) on Friday. This is going to be one expensive week in the gas tank.

How are the gas prices in your area? Has the rise in gas prices changed your holiday plans?

  1. Hi Nicole! Gas prices are driving me crazy….no pun intended :)……it’s running from about $3.05 to $3.15 around here. We had to make a trip to Southern Oregon on Saturday for the 3rd time in 2 1/2 months for soccer…..that’s about a 300 mile trip EACH way. We are lucky though for the holidays that our immediate families are close by. Ellie

  2. Ellie that is too funny, driving me crazy 🙂 Wow what a long trip, I hope that you had fun at the soccer game.

I stopped off to get gas today, I only put in $15.00, and barely got a half of tank of gas. I’m going to make it last as long as I can 😉 It was $3.14 here and the local rumor is it will be going up about twenty cents before the weekend, ouch.

  3. Hi again……yes it is a long trip. At least it is all freeway….straight down 1-5. Unfortunately, it rained the entire (and I mean entire) way down. When we got there though, it was just sprinkling. Well by the time they were ready to play (an hour later), it was pouring and poured the entire game!(and they lost too 🙁 It finally stopped AFTER the game and our ride home was relatively rain free….thank goodness. It was almost dark by the time we left so we were thankful for that. We had to fill up dh’s tank before we left and then again down there before we left to come home. DH just got home from work and said he needs to fill again. At least we have a long weekend to look forward too and won’t have to venture too far. Hope your prices stay down! Ellie

  4. Wow Ellie, it sounds like you got a ton of rain. Sorry to hear that the game didn’t go so well. I hope that the weather is better now 😉 Happy early Thanksgiving too.
