Gardening, Maybe…

We got out a little this afternoon, and enjoyed the warmer temps. Even Dylan finally had fun playing in the back yard, he crawled just a bit in the grass. Thade had so much fun digging in the dirt, and he was bummed when it was time to come back in.

There is a little spot in the back yard that might make a nice garden, but Nico was born without a green thumb. I would like to grow Strawberries, Okra, Bell Peppers, and maybe some Squash, Zucchini, and Corn, but I’m pretty sure my garden wouldn’t make it a week under my care. I’ll do a little more research and see if it is something that I could do, it would be nice to have the yummy fresh veggies without paying the grocery store price.

Are you gardening this Spring? What are you planting in your garden?

  1. Nicole, give it a try. Contact your local extension office for pointers and advice. They will be able to help and give you some great info.
We are doing a garden!;) Planting too much to list. I will post about it soon! Blessings!

  2. Thanks Marva! I can’t wait to read your post, and get a few pointers too 😉 I think it would be good for Thade and maybe he would try a few new veggies too. We’ll see how it goes though, no “green thumb” on me…

  3. Thanks Mimi! That is such a cool article! Thanks for all of the help and great advice too.

  4. Sadly, I have a black thumb. I’m so jealous that you have grass LOL. I’ve given up on planting because I just am not good at remembering to weed and water. Too many other fun things to do in the summer, although I too would love to have some veggies to throw in the freezer for winter. And garden veggies taste so much better than the ones from the grocery store.

Good luck on your gardening endeavour, Nicole 😀 .

  5. Thanks Susan! I too have a Black Thumb, I’ve even killed an Aloe Plant, and those are pretty hearty. I thought it would be nice to have some fresh veggies for the freezer too, and it might just save a bit on the groceries. Produce is very pricey around here.

I’ll let you know how the garden grows 🙂

  6. LOL. I managed to kill every plant I touch. We also have bad soil. I am going to trying a little container gardening this year. I want to do a tomato plant, a jalapueno, cilantro and green onions for salsa. We’ll see if I actually manage to do it this year.

  7. Thanks Maggie! I am the exact same way, I’m terrible with plants. Good luck with your garden too. The homemade and home grown salsa sounds tasty!
