February’s Tasty Treats

There was a lot going on in the kitchen during February. I tried out a lot of new recipes, some I might just have to make again. So here we go, some are sweet, some are not, and one of them I didn’t make, but here are a few photos for you.

009

One night I was making homemade pizza, and James said he was tired of one kind that I make. I decided to switch it up and make a veggie one. He loved it, and so did I. This was a big hit for pizza night.

007

I made some Vanilla Cupcakes for the Super Bowl.

013

I also made some Panko Popcorn Chicken, and served those with a Veggie Tray, and homemade Salsa too.

005

I made some Cakerdoodles too. These are one of my favorite go to cookies. They are sweet, and easy to make.

0071

I made some Cinnamon Rolls too. I just love them, they make the whole house smell amazing.

023

For Valentine’s Day, I made some tiny Cherry Pies. These disappear much faster than a regular Cherry Pie.

002

I also made the kiddos some Chocolate Chip Cookies. They don’t like Cherry Pie…

011

Midway through the month it was my birthday, and my turn with the stomach flu… I had rice and tea.

004

A few days later, I was feeling a bit better, so I planned a big Sunday dinner.

0072

I made Panko Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, and Star-topped Peach Pie.

010

We discovered this month that Agnes loves Guacamole. I do too.

0111

I attempted to make a batch of homemade Swiss Cake Rolls. I topped mine off with Milk Chocolate Ganache. The kids seriously loved these cakes, but they took about three hours to make from start to finish. It was fun to try them out though. The recipe needs some work though. The cake was a bit too eggy, and the ganache was amazing but too heavy, the filling was spot on… Sounds like I had better tweak this one a bit.

001

James surprised me with a Shamrock Shake. I love Shamrock Shakes like crazy, and every year I try to get at least one, and every year there is some snafu at the restaurant, and I am unable to get one. James made it happen though, and it was awesome.

008

I made some homemade Crescent Rolls, and served them alongside Beef Stew. They were pretty good. I love the crescent shape. They aren’t as buttery as Croissants, but they don’t take three days to make either. The kids liked them too.

0051

Towards the end of the month, the stomach flu found me again… So here is my food for the day Edamame, Papaya enzyme, and Tea too. Ugh, I’m sick of being sick…

0112

When it was Leap Day, it was Dylan’s turn to bring snacks for his preschool class. I made a triple batch of Oatmeal muffins, and served some veggie sticks and fruit juice too. The kids loved the muffins, and have requested them for the next time Dylan needs to bring snacks.

016

Lastly I made some Stars & Ducks sugar cookies for the kids. I topped them off with Vanilla Icing too. The stars are because we have been star gazing, and finding the Planets on the horizon (they look like stars), and the Ducks are back at the park. We made duck cookies to celebrate their return. It’s silly, but I love it.

March looks like it is going to be a busy month too. There is a birthday to celebrate, a cookie catering gig to cook for, and Spring Break… I’ll have some more photos though, and hopefully no more sickness.
