What’s Going On This Weekend

The Good Ol Days are here again!

This weekend the entire downtown shuts down for a fun Summer festival! There are crafts, carnival rides, and plenty of tasty food. Last night was the Good Ol Days parade, and we couldn’t wait to go.

We met up with a few of our best friends, and we all watched the parade together.

There were so many great floats this year, and candy for the kiddos too.

There were also tractors, lots and lots of tractors. I think I got at least 20 tractor pictures.

The parade was a lot of fun this year, and after the parade was even more activities. There was a bed race through downtown, that was hilarious, and a dachshund competition that James got to help judge. We all had a lot of fun and a lot of laughs too.

Today we will be heading out to the festival to take a Trolley Ride, and enjoy some yummy treats too. I hope that everyone has a great weekend, and I wish you were all here!

What A Night

Last night James and I headed up to Kansas City to meet up with my brother and go to  the City Market to watch the Alkaline Trio. We have been wanting to see the Alkaline Trio for years, and we all were so anxious to get to the show. Sadly you couldn’t take cameras inside, so I couldn’t get and pictures, but the show was amazing! The Alkaline Trio was the second band to play, and we were all screaming our heads off as they took the stage.

They played for just a half an hour, as there were 3 more bands that followed, but the set was amazing. James and I are already planning on seeing the Alkaline Trio headline in the near future. We all had a blast, and I have no voice today.

Well I didn’t come home empty handed or without a picture either. James picked me up an awesome Alkaline Trio hoodie, and Rob gave me the coolest Mother’s Day present.

My brother Rob hand painted me this amazing picture of Thade. I absolutely love it!  I think he may be working on one of Dylan too. It is such an amazing picture, and Rob is so talented. I spotted a few more works of art around his house that were awesome too.

We had such an awesome weekend! I can’t wait for the next show.

A Day Away

I am a little too excited today! James is off work early, my Mom is coming up to babysit, and James and I are headed to Kansas City to hang out with my brother Rob. Oh yeah,  we are also all getting to go and see my very most favorite band the Alkaline Trio! I seriously can’t wait, I think Rob and I have been wanting to see the Alkaline Trio for about 10 years now, so this is going to be awesome.

I hope that everyone has a safe and wonderful weekend! I’ll be back soon with pictures and probably a severe sunburn too.

Wonderful Wonderscope

A few weeks ago on a very rainy Monday, one of my best friends asked if I wanted to go to Kansas City. I said sure, she had a plan to take her kids to Wonderscope, and she wanted to see if we wanted to tag along. I thought it sounded like a really fun activity for the kids, and I never want to miss out on a trip to Kansas City.

We loaded up all the kiddos, 5 in all, and made our way to Wonderscope.

017

Wonderscope is an interactive Children’s Museum with activities for ages 6 months to 63 years old.

019

Wonderscope features so many fun activities for kids and I have to say we had a fun time running around Wonderscope too. There was a Space Room where you could pretend to fly a rocket ship, a water room that featured water tables for kids to play on. There is also an art room, a race tracks room, and a play room for kids 2 and under. The bigger kids loved the Lego room that was filled with Lego activities.

022

The overall favorite was the City Market room. There were tiny shopping carts, and a mini shopping center where you could buy groceries. There was also a garden, and greenhouse where you could pretend to grow the fruits and the veggies for the market. We stopped at the City Market room twice.

Wonderscope was so much fun, and I can’t wait to take the kids again. This was the perfect activity for a rainy Spring day!

Super Fun Sunday

The weather wasn’t cooperating, but that wasn’t going to keep us in the house on Sunday. I had a plan in mind to give James a day off, and I would take the kiddos to visit their Nana. I loaded up the car early, and the boy’s couldn’t wait to get to Nana’s house.

We had a few surprises planned for the day, and I knew exactly where we should visit first. We took the kids to Panera for lunch, and it was so delicious. I love their Cheddar Broccoli Soup in a Sourdough Bread Bowl, and the kids really enjoyed their sandwiches too. After lunch we decided to head out of town and visit Richardson’s Candy House.

I have only been there once or twice, and this was the boy’s first time to visit the Candy House, and Thade couldn’t wait to go.

032036

Richardson’s Candy House features an open kitchen where you can watch the chocolatiers hard at work creating the delicious treats. There are so many candies available, and many specialty products too. We wandered upstairs to look at the antiques and crafts for sale. Richardson’s is a great shop to visit, and I picked up a few sweet treats for my family too.

The boy’s made me laugh though… As we walked through the candy shop gazing at all of the handmade chocolates, they both picked up a Ring Pop and said that was what they wanted. I picked up a chocolate lollipop to take home for each of them, seriously who wouldn’t want chocolate after visiting the Candy Shop?!?

Since it was a little chilly, we couldn’t visit the park. Thade remembered that there was a Toy’s R Us, and my Mom and I felt up to the challenge. Thade loves Toy’s R Us, and Dylan was pretty excited too. The boy’s had fun running around the store and looking at all of the amazing toys. I ventured into Baby’s R Us to look at some of the cute little clothes, and shoes. The kids had a blast at Toy’s R Us, and nobody wanted to leave.

We headed back across town to Nana’s house, to take a little snack break before we shopped Target. I had a few groceries to get, and I really love shopping at Target. I always find way too many things that I think I need though. James is lucky that we don’t have a Target locally, I would be shopping there every day!

Before we knew it our day was coming to an end, and I still needed to pick up dinner for James at our favorite place. We had such a fun day at Nana’s house, and we already have a few more days planned, for the next time that James needs a day off, and I need a day in the city.
