Atlantis part five

Almost home… We had just a few hours before we were off to the airport. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast, and wandered around Atlantis for just a bit more.

I was going to miss this beautiful place…

The vacation was incredible, but it was time to get back to “the real world”. We had a long day of travel ahead of us, and  long wait through customs.

Good-bye Atlantis… Back to the states.

We had a bit of a break at Atlanta. We also had a late flight back to Kansas City. We were already thinking of spending the night in the city, and sleeping in one more day.

We decided that one more stay would be best, and we would head home in the morning.

I watched a few episodes of Doctor Who, and then we headed home.

I was so happy to be back home! I had missed the kids so much, and my little fuzzy pets too.

It was great to be back with this crazy lot!

Home sweet home. The Bahamas and Atlantis was absolutely incredible. I am so happy that we got to travel out of the states, and experience all that we did. It was truly good to be home though.

Atlantis part four

It was our last full day on the island. The only thing that we had scheduled were dinner plans. Those were for much later in the day. We decided to spend the day relaxing at the beach, and revisiting a few favorite places too.

We wandered the path up to the Lazy River ride. It was one of our very favorites at Atlantis.

We spent some time at the Royal Towers Pool. That pool was perfection.

We walked the path over to the Cove, and spent some time in the Atlantic ocean. I miss the ocean so.

Later in the evening, we dressed up, and headed out to dinner.

We grabbed a shuttle, and went over to the Cove. We had reserved a table at Mesa Grill, and I couldn’t wait.

The Cove is absolutely beautiful.

We had the most amazing meal! Seriously, I am completely ruined on eating anything other than Bobby Flay’s incredible menu. It was absolutely delcious!

As the sun was setting, we strolled around the patio a bit. The gardens, fountains, and palm trees are absolutely beautiful.

Our vacation was coming to an end, but what an amazing vacation it had been.

Atlantis part three

It was our third day in the Bahamas, and we were supposed to wake up extra early and go snorkeling for the entire day. After our bad sunburn from a day out on the water, we decided to stay in, and sleep in.

It also opened up the day for hanging out and exploring Atlantis.

There is so much to see and do there. It is just incredible.

I could just wander around and look at all of the pretty gardens…

The aquariums are incredibly beautiful too.

I have a new found adoration for sting-rays. They are beautiful in the water, and they have a big personality,

I like this little one, he was napping.

This sting-ray was all smiles.

We headed over to predator bay to see the really big sharks. We also spent time swimming in the ocean. It was a beautiful, and very relaxing day.

The sharks spooked me a bit. They were amazing though.

Later in the evening we had our final company dinner. We got together with some friends from KS, and caught up. It was a fun evening, and the food was fantastic too.

We had just one more full day left on the island…

Atlantis part two

Our second day in the Bahamas involved a trip to the docks, and a ride on a sailboat. Not just any sailboat, and America’s Cup Yacht. Yep, we were going racing.

There were many boats docked around Atlantis.

I loved this harbor, and the colors on the surrounding homes.

We loaded up, headed back to Nassau, and off to the dock. We spotted the cruise ships right away. They were so close to the sailboat.

Growing up in the mid-west, I’ve never been on a sailboat. I’ve barely seen one, and we were about to go out on an America’s Cup yacht.

I’ll admit it, I was a bit nervous, but excited to get out on the open water.

Once we were off, we even spotted a pirate ship.

We passed by tall cruise ships.

The sails went up, and we cruised along the ocean.

It was a fantastic trip, and the views were so peaceful.

Before we knew it, it was time to head back to shore.

We had another event to attend, and that night was couples photos.

I got a little too much sun…

The day was fantastic. The America’s Cup yacht was incredible. It was so amazing to be out in the ocean. This land-locked gal has a crush on the Atlantic.

Atlantis part one

The big kitty knew something was up… Usually it is James that is packing for convention, and heading off to the airport. This time I was going along too. The big kitty parked himself on all of the luggage, and refused to move as we tried to pack.

I couldn’t wait to go.  We were loading up, heading to KC, a quick stop-off at Atlanta, and then off to the Bahamas.

This was our first trip out of the country, so I was extra excited!

I love the K.C. skyline.

Our flight out was really early, so we stayed the night in K.C. I was thankful to have the extra bit of sleep.

I was a little nervous about flying, so I brought along some new yarn to start a project with. Winding the yarn-balls kept my mind off of the early flight.

We were up before 4:00 a.m., and off to the airport.

The flight to Atlanta was fast, and running to the gate to make it on time to the next flight was even faster. We made it with moments to spare and we were off to Nassau. Seriously, I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to get there.

A few hours later, a visit to customs, passports stamped, and we were ready to start our vacation. The sun was shining, the weather was warm, and oh my goodness Nassau was amazingly beautiful.

We checked in at Atlantis, and found our room on the 17th floor of the Royal Towers.

The views were incredible. You could see a majority of the resort from our window, and we had a beautiful view of the Atlantic Ocean too. I loved watching the sting-rays and sharks swimming below.

We settled in for just a few minutes, and then we decided to head out and explore Atlantis.

We stopped for lunch, and I tried Conch fritters. They were crazy tasty, and I wish I could make them in KS.

We finished the evening off with a welcome reception. We made some new friends, and ran into some dear friends from KS too.

We were both pretty tired after the long day, and we had a full day ahead of us tomorrow…
