A New Flea Market In Town

Agnes and I visited this quirky “new” flea market a few weeks ago. It is new in town, and it was just opening for business. Most of the booths were stocked, and I was there to hunt for some vintage Pyrex.

I spotted this little Fire King dish, and I thought it would look cute in the kitchen. I haven’t collected too many Fire King pieces, but this one is a good start to another collection.

I was in luck too. I spotted two Pyrex casserole dishes, and the price was just right.

We’ll have to go shop at the Flea Market again soon. Agnes loved it, and it was nice to get out of the house for a bit too.

Garage Sale Finds

This weekend is our local city-wide yard sale. How I hope the weather holds out for the weekend. I like riding around and looking for finds.

This season we’ve only been to one yard sale. There just haven’t been too many of them popping up. I think it has just been too cold and rainy.

We did find a pretty cool deal…

Agnes spotted this big basket, and I thought it looked like a great place to store yarn. It was just five cents too, so we had to get it. It looks cute on the craft table, and the yarn is a bit tidier.

We’ll see how this weekend goes. I’m keeping my eye out for more yarn and vintage Pyrex.

Shopping Local

I’m not a black Friday shopper, and I don’t know if I really like the idea of cyber week. I do really enjoy small business Saturday. I like to go out to a few local favorite shops, find some great items, and catch up with the owners too. This year James had to work open to close on small business Saturday, so I went out the night before Thanksgiving.

I went to two of my favorite shops, and I found myself a few goodies.

First I visited Trader Dave’s Antiques and More. I love this store, it is full of antiques and unique items. I always find something when I visit here.

This time around I found this cute Pyrex casserole dish hiding on a shelf. I have been watching a beautiful blue patchwork quilt too. It is on my Christmas wish list.

After Trader Dave’s, I headed over a few blocks to visit The Treasure Hunt Flea Market.

The Treasure Hunt has quickly become my favorite shop to visit. It is such a fun place, and there are antiques galore. The Treasure Hunt also has a large furniture room that has beautiful antiques, and amazing quilts too. I love it!

This time around I picked up a cute Pyrex butter dish. It matches a casserole dish in my collection.

I also found a little Pyrex bowl, and a green Pyrex casserole dish too. I used them both on Thanksgiving. My vintage collection is growing one piece at a time, and I’m happily shopping locally too.

So what about you… Do you have a favorite local shop that is unique to your town?

Old Items, New Home

I love to yard sale, and hit the thrift stores too. I’ve found a lot of fun items that I’ve used to decorate our house.

I spotted these vintage pillow cases at a fantastic sale. They were priced just right too. Agnes loves them on her bed, she calls them her flower-bed.

I’m waiting for a cold day to wear this super-cool jacket. Right now it is chilling out on a chair, just waiting for the weather to change.

This little quilt ventures all over the house. It was a $5.00 buy at a yard sale, and it looks cute draped over the big blue chair. I think it is going to come in handy when Winter hits.

I love this little photo under the stairs. It was a $.50 buy at a yard sale. I think it’s cute.

I picked up this book at a sale too. I remember reading it to my brother when he was little. I think my kiddos will like it too.

A yard-sale find shirt, and Halloween waxed lips from Grandma.

Lastly Agnes spotted this kitty at a sale, and it had to come home with us. Agnes has become quite the yard sale fan too.

Yard Sale Finds

Last Saturday was the annual Autumn city wide yard sale in our town. We were lucky, I spotted a few sales signs on Friday that were close to our house. The weather on Friday was amazing, so the little gal and I walked to a nearby sale.

Agnes loved the walk, and she also loves yard sales. We found one close by, that had some fantastic buys. We looked for another in our neighborhood, but it wasn’t set up yet.

We found a few vintage pillow cases, a cool painting, a few mugs too. The best buy was the red quilt. I picked it up for just $5.00.

On the second day of the sales, we had thought about having a sale. I priced  lots of kids clothes, but in the end we decided that it might be more fun to get out and shop. James had to work that afternoon, but he took the kiddos and I out in the morning. The weather was amazingly beautiful for the first day of Autumn. Agnes was excited to go, but the boys wern’t too happy about the road trip.

I lost count on just how many sales we went to. There were so many this time around. The kiddos found a few items, and they scored some freebies too. I seemed to be the only one that was buying though…

I was needing to fill in my Autumn/Winter wardrobe, and I found lots of great clothes to do the job. I found eight tops, and now I’m ready for the cool weather.

At the sale at the high school I found another little dish that matches my Corningware. I also picked up a cute little framed print for the living-room.

We ventured back across town, and found a few more fantastic sales. I picked up this little dish for a dime, and the jars were fifty cents.

My buy of the day was this one though…

I spotted this awesome vintage leather jacket that didn’t have a price on it. I thought it looked super-cool, and when I asked the price, the lady said how about $1.00. Oh yeah! It fits perfectly too.

The yard sales were so much fun. I hope to have one soon. I have lots of items that need new homes.
