City Wide Yard Sale

Last weekend was our town’s City Wide Yard Sale. We hit the sales early this year, and came home with some pretty cool finds.

We stopped of at a sale close to our home, and we found lots of dishes. I loved this little picnic basket. It ended up being full of yarn.

It had to come home with me. I found some more yarn at another sale on Saturday, so I decided to start a messy blanket for the living-room.

We spent a lot of time out at the sales on Saturday. We filled the mini van and only spent around $30.00, not too shabby.

We came home with lots of clothes, stuffed animals, dishes, Bundt pans, game pieces, holy moly the Summer daybed was packed.

We had a great time at the sales this year. We were way under budget, and we met a lot of cool people around town too. Now I just need to clean out the kids closets, and have one of my own.

Mega-Sale Finds

Yesterday (and today) was the Mega Sale at the Catholic Church. The little ones and I headed down early, and James and Thade joined us too. I was glad we got there early. We found a ton of great deals.

I got an entire laundry basket full of Summer clothes and jammies for Agnes. I only spent $10.00, and came home with a ton of cute clothes.

I found a few more pictures to add to the wall of kitschy-art, and a few Pyrex pie plates too. I found a fantastic wooden cutting board, and this little beauty too…

This aqua snowflake vintage Pyrex dish was hiding under a bunch of dishes that were similar sized. I couldn’t believe that I found it, and for just $2.00!

We also spotted this awesome table and chair set. We were looking for a desk to put in the boy’s room, and we spotted this cool table that was about the size that we were looking for. We decided it was a great deal at $30.00 (it also came with four chairs). The more I looked at it, the more I realized it was a crazy deal.

We carried it home, it was insanely heavy. It looks like it is a mid-century piece to me, that can fold out into a dining table. It is also from Denmark, and solid wood. I’m going to have to do some research on this one, I think we came across something good!

The sale was great, and we came home with so many fantastic deals. Agnes loves her clothes, and the boys love the table too. I still need to hang up my new pictures, but the Pyrex has already found a home in my kitchen.

Around The House: Yard Sale Finds

We’ve been cleaning and doing some rearranging around our home. I’ve also been finding homes for all of our “new” yard sale finds.

We shopped a neighbor’s yard sale, right behind our house. Agnes brought home a tall plant to add to the indoor garden,

I am always on the lookout for vintage cookbooks. This time around I found so many, I had to move the cookbook collection to a new spot in the kitchen.

One of my very favorite finds were these adorable dessert plates. I found two of them, and I hope to find more to add to this new collection.

I found several kitschy pieces to add to the wall under the stairs.

I even found a few larger pieces to start displaying along the stairwell.

I picked up this green and white rooster set for the kitchen. They match a bowl that I found at a previous sale.

This little yellow dish was too cute to pass up. It also holds the taco toppings on taco night.

I had spotted a wire basket for $20.00 at my favorite antique shop. I loved the basket, but not the price. I lucked out and spotted this basket for $2.00, it had to come live on my craft table.

There were lots of other items that I didn’t get photos of… I found sheets, dishes, water glasses, and James found giant mugs for sweet tea. This time around I didn’t come across any vintage pyrex pieces, but I’ll keep looking and keeping my fingers crossed for a great find.

There is another big sale this weekend. It is at the Catholic Church just down the block from us. I can’t wait to see what we can find!

Yard Sale Finds: City-wide Sale

Last Friday and Saturday  was the annual city-wide yard sale. We grabbed a map ahead of time, and planned out a route to take. We were going to try and shop as many as we could.

Agnes and I got started early Friday morning. We dropped off the boys at school, and shopped till lunchtime.

We found some great deals, and had to stop off at home and unload the mini-van.

I found this set of bookshelves, the price tag said “make and offer”. I ended up snagging the shelves for just three dollars. They just needed a little bit of cleaning.

We shopped on Friday till we were exhausted. We woke up early on Saturday, and everyone was along for the shopping trip.

We found so many great deals. This time around everybody found something at the sales. I think we even made Thade a yard sale fan.

I came home with lots of goodies. I picked up several glasses, and dishes for the kitchen.

I added a few more cookbooks to my collection.

I even found some yarn! I picked up two gallon sized bags for one dollar. I wound what I could use to crochet, the rest we made into a cat toy.

The homemade cat toy quickly turned into a cat wig.

Agnes was pretty proud of her little crafty creation.

It was fun to go to the yard sales. I hope we come across a few more this Spring. I’m still looking for vintage Pyrex, in all shapes and sizes.

Yard Sale Finds

Tis the season, the yard sales are popping up here and there. We shopped one a few weeks ago, and I found some pretty cool finds.

I grabbed a Bundt Pan from the 70’s in it’s original packaging for just $3.00, it is awesome, and harvest gold. I also picked up a little bill organizer for a mere $.50.

It isn’t Pyrex, but this little Daisy dish was too cute to pass up.

I also found a little picture of squirrels to add to my collection. Agnes is obsessed with the squirrels in our neighborhood. She is always trying to catch one of them.

After the yard sale, we decided to head over to the Treasure Hunt. It was packed with antique shopping customers.

I grabbed this little recipe box. It is adorable, on the cookie cookbook shelf.

I lucked out and found an itty bitty Pyrex dish too. It was within my budget too, so that is always great.

The city wide yard sale is next month, and I can’t wait to get out there and hunt for bargains.
