This Weekend

This weekend was pretty darn fantastic!

We all felt better, and thank goodness for that. I think I missed an entire month due to sickness.

We decorated the house for Halloween! We also stocked up on Halloween candy.

We visited our gardening buddy at the hospital, he is doing well and recovering from surgery. We also hit a few yard sales on the way home. I came back with a big bag of yarn for $5, and seven dessert plates for fifty cents.

I’ve been working on teacher gifts for Christmas. I’m making a bunch of scarves for the kids to give their teachers. They are perfect to crochet during a Football game.

We took lots of naps too.

The best part… We got to meet our beautiful baby nieces. My Sister (in law) Jill and her fiancee, and my mother in law visited on Saturday. They brought their darling little girls.

It was so fun having little ones in the house again. Lots of hugs, cuddles, feedings, and tiny toes. Seriously, I miss babies like crazy, so I am glad that these little darlings are in my life.

The girls are now one month old, and absolutely precious. I love those girls with all of my heart.

I have to say, it is pretty awesome being an Aunt!

Thrifting Finds

I had an awesome trip to the antique shop, and came home with an item that I have been searching for, for the longest time.

I happily added some more vintage Pyrex to my collection.

I absolutely fell in love with this organizer. I put it in the kitchen above the cookbooks.

I was thrilled when I found this bowl. I have been looking for this Friendship pattern for two years.

I’m very happy with my new old finds.

What A Week

This week went by in a hurry, and we still have a lot going on this weekend. Today we are celebrating Thade’s birthday with lots of friends from school, lots of pizzas, and lots of video games. Thade also has another birthday party to go to tomorrow.

Earlier in the week, James was in Florida, the kids were anxious for him to get home. Thade’s birthday was Thursday, Dylan had a fantastic music program on Thursday night. I had room mom duties for Friday at preschool, the kiddos were celebrating Kansas Day! I finished up two big crochet projects, one I had been working on for over a year and a half.We capped off the weekdays with a trip to my favorite shop, and I came across some amazing finds! Better get this post done quickly, I’ve got a chocolate Bundt cake to frost for today’s party.

Have a fantastic weekend everybody!

Thrifted Finds

Last Saturday we visited a few favorite local shops in support of Small Business Saturday. I came across some pretty great finds, and most of them were 10%-50% off too.

I got a few pieces of Pyrex to add to the kitchen collection.

I also came across this cute little coffee cup that matches a set of yard sale plates.

I picked up a lot of other items too. It was a lot of fun to do some shopping, and support some pretty fantastic businesses too.

Quiet Craft

I stumbled across a lot of yarn at the recent yard sales. There were different varieties, and little bits here and there.

The multicolored yarn came with a story. A kind lady who likes to weave told me that she brought it back from Italy. It was hand dyed, and you could tell that she really loved it.

I decided to mix all of the colors together, and make a comfy blanket for the upcoming Winter months.

I used up my bits and odds and ends too. On Monday,  James had me pick up a little extra yarn to add to the blanket.

The messy blanket is coming along quickly. I love the quirky look of it. It is a little unique, but toasty and warm.
