Walk the Walk

The weather was warm and windy, and I thought it would be fun to take the boys on a walk to the Post Office. The walk would be great exercise for me and it would save a little bit in the old gas tank too… The Post Office is just about a half a mile from our house (one way), so I thought this would be a pretty easy walk.

I loaded Dylan into the stroller and Thade was ready to walk too. I packed along all of our letters that needed to be mailed, 2 sippy cups with ice water for the boys, and we were on our way. We decided to take an indirect route to the Post Office as one street is a little busy during the morning hours. That detour added a few extra blocks to the trip. We also stopped a few times to look at the pretty trees in bloom, and to get a drink of water.

We had almost made it to our destination, just three blocks to go when poor Thade tripped and skinned up his knee 🙁 He was miserable, and I ended up carrying him for a block or two…

We finally made it to the Post Office, stamps purchased, letters mailed, and Thade was in no mood to walk home. This time I decided to take the shorter, but busier way home. Thade was still pretty upset about his knee, and I ended up carrying him for another two blocks, wow this was one workout!

We walked past our favorite donut shop and Thade really wanted to stop in. They are now serving lunch, and you could smell the delicious Onion Rings. I was tempted to stop too, but we kept going, at this point I was still carrying Thade and pushing Dylan in the stroller one handed.

Finally we were just a two blocks from home, and Thade was ready to walk. We made it in the door, I got Thade 2 Spider Man band-aids, and Dylan fed and down for a nap. Thade was so tired, and I thought we could both use some lunch.

I made Cheesy-Bean-and Rice Burritos for me and Thade had de-constructed Nachos 😉 I helped myself to a large glass of Peach Iced Tea and a couple of Chocolate Cookies too.

It was a fun walk, but it might be a little too far for the kiddos. All in all it was a 45 minute round trip, so it saved in gas money but it took a bit of time. It did get me thinking about other places that we could walk to that would be a fun day out for the kiddos. I’ll just make sure and have a few extra Spider Man band-aids in the diaper bag, just in case 😉

Spring Cleaning (Again)

I know, I know I’m really behind with my Spring cleaning (thanks flu), but I’m back at it. Today I started working on the Boy’s closet, it is a great big mess. The weather is finally warming up, so it is time to get out the Spring/Summer clothes too. I grabbed the bins of Thade’s old clothes, to look for Spring clothes for Dylan, and I only found a few onesies that will fit Dylan. Thinking back to when Thade was 12 months, it was Winter, so it makes sense 😉 So Dylan will need some new Spring clothes…

Surprisingly Thade’s Spring/Summer Shorts still fit! Luckily he is almost set for Spring and Summer. I might just pick up a couple of A-shirts for him, and a pair of jammies or two.

We are planning on going for a walk to the Post Office today, the weather is nice and warm. Thade loves to go for walks, and Dylan is a fan of riding along in his stroller. It will be good for me too, I could use the fresh air and exercise 😉
Are you still Spring Cleaning too, or are you all finished?

Poor Tulips

I was hoping that the freezing weather wouldn’t happen, but last night we had a hard freeze. I’m glad that I snapped a few pics of the Tulips before the freezing weather got to them. I hope that we will see some warmer weather soon, it would sure help out with the Gas Bill 😉

Our little Robin has been very busy in her nest, and we also have a little Sparrow living in the back-yard too. Thade still enjoys watching the busy bird, and everyday he asks about the eggs. I don’t know if there are any little eggs in the nest just yet,  so we’ll keep watching.

The Big Box

About a week ago my hubby brought home a big box from work, and Thade claimed it as his.

But you know how it goes, you finally get your awesome box-fort just the way that you like it, and then your little brother (and sometimes the cat) wants to play too…

They boy’s and the kitty played and played with the box, and had a blast! Thade played peek-a-boo with Dylan, and our kitty played peek-a-boo with Thade on the other side of the box. There were lots and lots of giggles.

Thade wasn’t upset even when the not so light kitty jumped on top of the fort, crushing the beloved box. Thade then turned the crumbled box into a Stage and sang into a microphone, too cute. Nothing beats a great cardboard box, and a lot of imagination 😉

Soccer Snacks

On Friday Thade and I gathered the supplies, and we made Soccer Snack Bags for his game on Saturday.

O.k. when I say made snacks, I actually mean place Snacks gently in a cute bag and add a sicker. I’m still feeling a bit under the weather, and I thought it would be best to used prepared snacks, instead of baking anything and passing along my flu germs.

We set everything out on the table, and I put Thade in charge of the Apple Juice. He counted the little boxes over and over. He couldn’t wait to get to the game, and eat the snacks. We needed eleven snacks bags for the team, and I made one extra just in case.

On game day the weather was freezing, and Thade wasn’t in the mood to play Soccer, so it was a long game. Snack time was at the end of the game, and the kids were so cute, everyone was very curious about just what was in those bags. Thade was thrilled to see that we had 3 extra bags left over just for him 🙂

I really liked making the Snack bags, and I will make them again if I have to bring snacks for T-Ball. Next time though, I’ll make a batch of cookies, but stick with the Juice Boxes, Thade loved them 😉
