Foster Kitties

About two weeks ago, on a very hot and humid Kansas Sunday, a car pulled up on our block. They opened their door, and dropped out three very hungry kittens, and one very scared mama cat.

Agnes saw the entire thing, and Dylan screamed we have to help them. Luckily my Mom was visiting, and she was on board to help too. Thade also joined in, finding bowls for cat foodand fresh water.

It took a while, but I got the scared kittens off of the road.

They were starving and the tiniest one was badly dehydrated.

We nicknamed the little one mittens. He was in rough shape, so I tried my best to tell the kids “we will give mittens all of the love that we can”, I really didn’t know if he was going to make it.

Mittens barely moved and had very little strength. Dylan and Agnes would take turns giving him extra cuddles.

Patch was gaining strength and also becoming quite a sweetheart.

Mark was shy, but healthy and playful.

Two days of proper food, water,  and snuggles, Mittens made a complete turn-around.

We did see the mama cat one time, she was so scared, she wouldn’t come near us. I wish we could have helped her too.

Two weeks later the kittens are thriving. Thanks to some help from our neighbors, Patch has found a loving home.

Hearing the news was bittersweet, the kids were a little sad, but I assured them that finding homes for all of the kittens is our fostering goal.

It has been fun taking care of these little kitties.

Miss Lula Mae has had a bit of a hurt paw. She seems to be feeling better though, she loves to tackle Mia.

With all of the crazy rain and warm weather, the toads are back in the yard. Dylan loves to catch them.

I always have Dylan turn them loose before bedtime though. This little one was awfully cute!

How is Spring coming along in your neighborhood?
