Spring Veggies

How I wish these were from my garden ; ) My Mom visited us on Wednesday, and brought us some delicious veggies from her favorite Farmer’s Market. One Yellow Squash didn’t make it in to the picture, I made tasty Squash Couscous for lunch.

Thade had such a fun time at our local Farmer’s Market last weekend. He made a request for us to walk down there tomorrow morning. I hope to get there a little early, and maybe find some Strawberries, and of course those delicious Cinnamon Rolls.

I finally got my garden planted this week, so I hope to have some tasty veggies soon. Thade can’t wait to help out in the garden, and he even said he would try a veggie or two.

Gardening at Nico’s

When I say that I am a gardening novice, I really, truly am. This Summer I’ve decided to start small, and hopefully grow into a gardener, even if I don’t happen to have a green thumb. I set my sites on 4 hanging baskets, a small Hosta garden, and a teeny tiny Veggie/Melon garden.

Only one and maybe half of a hanging basket are thriving. The other two have gone on to potted plant Heaven… I’m going to replant them with Inpatients, because it seems to be the only flower that I can grow (which is kinda funny). The Hosta are doing well, and the leftover Pansy that I over-purchased for the hanging baskets are doing great too. The veggie garden is another story…

I haven’t planted it yet… I’m still pulling weeds. Everyday Thade asks when can we plant our veggies, and I tell him just as soon as Mommy has gotten rid of all of the weeds. It is a slow going process and my thumbs are killing me 😉 I hope I’m not too late in the season, I swear we had frost last month 🙂

Under Wraps

Just when I thought it was finally Spring there is a frost advisory for tonight. I scrambled around this evening, and got all of the plants covered with plastic. I reused the plastic that covered my hubby’s new recliner, and it came in very handy for the garden. I hope that it will keep the plants safe and warm 🙂

I just hope that it doesn’t get too cold, we were finally getting some pretty little leaves on all of the trees.
