Mia Vs. The Garden

So I’ve altered my dream garden plans for this Summer just a bit… All thanks to one hungry puppy.

I finally have some baby Okra plants popping up.

Mia has also been digging up my Asparagus root. She leaves them all over the steps for me. I keep re-planting them, so we’ll see if they make it through the Summer.

Corn & Okra

We have several little seedlings making an appearance in the garden this week.

The Sweet Corn is just starting to sprout. I’m giving corn another shot this Summer, I’ve yet to have any success with it. This year I’ve planted it in blocks, instead of rows, so we’ll see if it works. I love Sweet Corn, it is delicious.

The Okra has started sprouting too. Last year I didn’t plant enough Okra, and this year I think I planted too much. Oh well, I don’t think my family will complain if we have Okra with every meal.

Outdoorsland

The weather has been amazing, and we have been out in the back-yard every chance we get. The kids run around and play, and the pup does too. I’ve been busy cleaning, planting, and re-mulching. The yard is looking pretty good.

Finally!

One of my red lilies finally bloomed! It is so lovely. The other red lily looks like it will bloom soon. Sadly, my yellow ones didn’t grow back this year. I also had a few Hosta that didn’t come back either… Maybe I need to make a run to the greenhouse and fix this problem.

Indoor/Outdoor

I love Spring. I am busy cleaning indoors and outdoors too. I also have a few plants going indoors and outdoors too.

I’m trying to regrow Celery. It is really easy to do, and grows quickly. The kids like studying the celery. Thade thinks it is pretty cool that it is so tall. I hope to plant it outside, and see if it grows even more.

I haven’t been keeping up with my weeding as much as I should. Mia doesn’t mind though, she loves to run around the yard.

We have been trimming the trees, and watching the busy Robins.

Today I cleaned up the side porch. It was a yucky, dirty job, but it really needed done.

I’ve only had a few strawberries. The birds got most of them, and them Mia did too. Who knew Chihuahua pups liked berries so much.

They are sprouting some blossoms too. I can’t wait for fresh Snow Peas, they are tasty.

The Raspberries are coming in nicely too. Hopefully the birds will stay out of them.

Agnes and I got out this morning and watered, and tilled. I finally planted some Okra seed. I hope they grow, my family loves Okra.
