The Last Week Of School

I can’t believe it is here already, this is the boys last week at school. Thade is really excited, but Dylan isn’t ready for kindergarten to be over just yet. We’ll see how Agnes does this Summer with the boys at home all the time.

I’m enjoying the quiet in the house while I have it. I’ll be working on a few crochet projects, and baking a bit too. Friday will be here before I know it, and I had better be ready for some crazy kiddos.

Lazy Days

Wednesday marked just one single month left in the school year. In some ways I am ready for the lazy days of Summer, in other ways I am in no way ready for it. The littlest ones tend to fight when they have too much time together, and my oldest tends to get bored easily.

If it were up to Thade we would spend every Summer day in Kansas City. I don’t think that is too possible, but maybe we can plan for a road trip or two up there this Summer. I would love to take Dylan and Agnes to the Zoo in Springfield too. They haven’t been before, and I know they would love it.

The kids are also crazy eaters at the moment. I’m having trouble keeping the house stocked, and keeping up with their snacking tummies. I can’t imagine just how bad the damage will be on the grocery budget this Summer.

I would like to get some projects done this Summer too. We have a lot of outdoor projects to tackle, and so many indoors that I need to finish. It would be nice to get them done once and for all.

I am looking forward to having a daily schedule gone for a bit. I hope the kids will sleep in, and relax a bit. I need to keep myself on track when it comes to housework though. I tend to slack a bit during the lazy days of Summer.

Guess I had better get ready for it…

Mother’s Day Trivets

This year I wanted to make my Mom a handmade gift for Mother’s Day.

Since I was in granny square making mode, I thought some trivets would be fun to make. First I needed to learn how to add on to my squares though. Once I got the hang of it, I made two, and stitched them together.

I liked the way that it looked, but it needed a bit more color.

I used the yarn that I had on hand.

I picked out lots of different colors, and I worked on the squares during the evening.

The project went fast, and before I knew it, I had five trivets made.

I was hoping that they would look like stained glass.

They looked so cute in the window, I might need to make a set for my house.

Just in case you were wondering… I gave them to my Mom on Easter, I just couldn’t wait.

Easter Eve and Easter Day

I am a little late with this post. The last week or so has flown by. Easter was fantastic, and I have a few photos to share.

On Easter eve, we dyed Easter eggs with the kids.

The kiddos love dyeing eggs. It is fun, messy, and everyone gets involved.

We dyed three dozen eggs this year. That way each kiddo had at least a dozen to find in the morning.

The big kids were anxious to get to bed, but Agnes wasn’t. She was ready for Easter to begin.

The kids woke up bright and very very early. They tore through the house gathering eggs, and eating way too much chocolate for breakfast.

They got lots of fun items, and I think they found all of the eggs that were hidden. We cleaned up a bit, and I started to work on the Easter desserts. We were having all of the family up in the afternoon to celebrate Dylan’s birthday, and Easter too.

Uncle Rob arrived first, and the kids were so excited. They miss him a lot. Aunt Jill and both of the grandmas arrived shortly after Rob. Then the party could begin. We had cake and ice cream, and spent the afternoon outdoors. The weather was amazing that day. There were bubbles, frisbee in the yard, and sidewalk chalk to decorate the sidewalk too. The kids had so much fun.

I snuck back indoors, and finished up cooking. It has become our family tradition to have Fried Chicken with all of the fix-ins for Easter dinner. There is always enough, and we all love fried chicken. I also made a few pies, and homemade vanilla ice cream too.

Easter was so awesome! The peach pie was crazy good too.

The Week Has Gotten Away From Me

This has been one of those weeks. In the beginning of the week we celebrated Dylan’s birthday, and the following day he was home sick from school. Wednesday I was catching up on the laundry, and Thursday I finally caught up on the dishes from the weekend.

Last night I woke up in the middle of the night, and realized just how far behind I was. Easter is in a few days. and I haven’t even gotten started hard boiling eggs, or prepping dishes for the family. Oh goodness, just where did the week go?

Hope you are having a happy and productive Friday. I had better get back to it, and fast.
