Thursday Thrifting With The Miss

This morning Agnes started drawing Christmas pictures. She is anxious for the holiday to arrive, and she really wants to dig out all of the Christmas lights. We were taking James lunch today, and we drove past a Flea Market that I haven’t been to in a while. After we were done at lunch, I thought we should stop in and see what we could find.

I spotted a really cute snowman, but it was way out of my price range. I also found a pretty cool bench, but the price just wasn’t for me.

Agnes spotted the booth filled with Christmas decorations, and she made a bee-line for it. She swooped up a big  plastic Santa, and said I have to buy this… I checked the price, as she was hugging the Santa, and said sure. She was so excited, and she already had a place in mind for it.

I found a little something for me too. This one is going to live with the rest of the kitchen collection.

We might go visit another favorite Antique shop tomorrow. I know it isn’t Small Business Saturday just yet, but I love spending the afternoons browsing the local shops.

The Miss is pretty happy with her find too.

Finished Project: The Hexagon Throw

I started this project way back in July. I crocheted my first hexagon, and decided to keep going from there. I’ve wanted to make a few handmade gifts this year. I decided to make a colorful hexagon throw for my mom.

I took a quick stock of how many I had made. I mapped out a little pattern, and I then realized that I was going to have to crochet many more.

I started stitching them together, little by little.

I stitched, sewed, crocheted, and went through a lot of yarn.

I counted up all that I had crocheted, and three hundred was the count. It still needed a bit more.

So I crocheted a bit more…

Peanut came to visit the craft table…

I think I was a bit loopy after crocheting that last hundred hexagons.

Time to finish this up.

A few more stitches,

and done.

Several months of work, and four hundred hexagons, and I’ve got a gift for my amazing mom.

I hope she likes it.

I love this finished project. I just might have to make a few more of these.

October’s Favorite Photos

The month of October was a blur. The month flew by, but it was a fantastic month. I’ve got a few favorite photos to share with you…

Thade was happy to draw on a face for the jack-o-lantern. His class cleaned out and prepped the pumpkin for us.

Dylan was all smiles and ready to go trick-or-treating on Halloween.

When the weather was still a bit warm, Agnes helped pick the small strawberries and okra.

She let me put her hair up, well for about long enough to take a picture of it.

She was a princess for Halloween.

This usually happens anytime I get the three kiddos together for a “nice” group photo.

Dylan and Agnes were giving Thade some instructions. I got to do the carving, Thade was in charge of the Sharpie work.

One more from Halloween night. We were getting ready to go visit the neighbors. I love our neighborhood.

The yarn made a pretty decent tiara holder.

I love the crazy natural light in the foyer.

Me, attempting to look like a proper grown-up…

Here’s the big guy sleeping in one of my very favorite antique quilts. He is super cozy…

And one more dose of kitty-cuteness! He is actually awake, and looking rather annoyed at me.

Yarn Run

I’ve been making lots and lots of hexagons and granny-squares for a few projects (maybe Christmas presents), and my yarn stash was getting a little low.

My super-sweet hubby told me to visit the yarn section, while he and the kiddos checked out the lawn and garden department.

I found lots of pretty colors, and I got my craft table re-stocked and ready to crochet.

Ready For The Weekend

Dylan is feeling better, and he was able to go back to school today. Thank goodness for it too. He was really sad that he missed school yesterday. Agnes is doing better too, and she is back to bouncing off the walls. Thade is over the cold too, and all caught back up at school.

I am so far behind it isn’t even funny. The laundry is piled up, and the kitchen is a mess. Oh goodness this week has gotten away from me. I am so ready for the weekend to get here.
