April’s Favorite Photos

April was a pretty month. We had a little bit of Spring and a little bit of Winter too. We worked on the yard a bit, and enjoyed the sunshine. May is already in full swing, but here are a few of my favorite photos from April.

The little miss seems to be changing every single day… My littlest one is growing up way too fast.

Dylan met his reading goal challenge, and lost two teeth during the month of April.

Thade was voted Student of the month! I’m so proud of my big kid.

We started some plants. They were moved outdoors when they were finally big enough.

Here are a few shots from our corner of Kansas.

Miss Mia is happy to have some sunny days outdoors!

The big kitty took extra care of me when I had a yucky cold and fever. He is a little nurse whenever anyone isn’t too well.

He can be a bit protective… I love that kitty!

And I’m Back

Sorry, I’ve been away for a bit. Actually I’ve been keeping a little secret… We’ve been on vacation. It was lovely, tropical, and it involved lots of these.

I’ll have some more posts up soon…

For now I have to unpack, reorganize the house, make a menu plan, and go grocery shopping. The boys and I have eye appointments tomorrow, and there is a lot of vacation laundry to be done. Better get to it. My relaxing vacation is over, and I’m back to Mom-mode!

Finally Finished: Solid Grannysquare Throw

I finally finished the granny-square throw. I took some time on Monday afternoon to finish the edging, and I love the finished project.

Way back in January we made a trip to Joplin. I love shopping for yarn there. I stocked up at JoAnn’s Fabrics, and Hobby Lobby too.

I came home with lots of pretty colors.

For awhile I didn’t know what to make… Agnes had picked through the yarn, and found several colors that she wanted made into a throw. That left me with a lot of yarn, but not quite enough to make a big project.

I decided on making solid color, seven round granny-squares.

I also settled on making one hundred granny-squares.

I kept crocheting until I made one hundred. I then started hand-stitching the squares together.

I got about half-way through the project, and that’s when the big kitty became obsessed with it.

I sewed and stitched the second half while he napped on the project.

The one hundred granny-squares were all together, but I thought it needed a little something more.

So I double-crocheted an edge in grey.

This throw was fairly quick to make, and I love the colors!

Now, to finish those other two projects…

Still Not Finished

I have three pretty big crochet works in progress now. Unfortunately, none of them are quite finished.

First up is a king size blanket for our bed.

I think I started this project last spring/early Summer, and I was hoping to have it done by the Winter.

Winter has come and gone, and it still isn’t finished…

Up next is a new afghan for Agnes. We stocked up on yarn in January, and she picked out her favorite colors.

This granny-row blanket is quick to crochet, and it is about 3/4’s  finished.

I’ll keep crocheting on it until I run out of pretty yarn.

Lastly I’m making a solid-color granny-square throw.

I picked out lots of different colors of yarn, and started making 7 round granny-squares.

This is a fun project to crochet. I can crochet a granny-square here and there, when I have a few minutes.

I crocheted one hundred squares, and started hand-stitching them together.

I got about half-way through the blanket, and that’s when the big kitty became obsessed with it.

He loves to nap in my sewing chair… It is a very sunny spot in the house.

He also likes to nap directly on my project, even when I’m sitting there sewing on it.

He is too cute though, I don’t want to move him. That granny-square blanket is definitely his!

Lazy Days

I was still sick over the weekend, so I pretty much did a whole lot of nothing. Nothing is nice, but holy moly the house is a mess, and the to do list runneth over.

I really hope this week goes better. I have got to get back to normal, and well.
