What’s On The Menu

I’ve been planning the Thanksgiving menu for quite awhile. I love Thanksgiving, and I really do love to cook. Since we have a lot of shoppers in the family (not me ) I serve the big meal for lunch. I then make a big snack buffet for dinner. There are plenty of yummy snacks for return shoppers, or for those who want to stick around and watch the games.

I started cooking what I could on Monday. I did a little more cooking on Tuesday. Pie Baking day is Wednesday. The rest of the sides and big items will be made on Thanksgiving.

So here is what I’ve got planned for the day:

Thanksgiving Lunch:

  • Turkey, Ham
  • Dinner Rolls: breadstick rolls, cloverleaf rolls, and wheat rolls
  • Green bean casserole, and corn casserole
  • Stuffing
  • Mashed Sweet Potatoes (I think I’m the only one who eats them)
  • Mashed Potatoes and Gravy
  • Chicken and Noodles (a kansas staple)

Thanksgiving Dinner: Snack Buffet

  • BBQ Lil Smokies
  • Ham and Cheese Rolls
  • Chex Mix (triple batch)
  • Chips, Pretzels, and Dip
  • Veggie Tray
  • Fruit Tray with Fruit Dip
  • Cheese, Crackers, and Meat Tray
  • Pumpkin Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
  • Lemon Poppyseed Bundt cake with Orange Glaze

Desserts:

  • Black & Blue Pie
  • RR Cherry Pie
  • Dutch Apple Pie
  • Coconut Cream Pie with Meringue
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Chocolate Cream Pie
  • Homemade Whipped Cream

So Long

I have been growing out my hair for the last two years, and it was definitely time to donate it to Locks of Love.

My hair was past my waist.

I made an appointment with Kat at my very favorite place.

I was so excited. This is my third time donating my hair.

One ponytail and a few snips later.

I love it! Kat did an awesome job, and my hair is fuller and darker too. She even gave me some pretty cute bangs. She is awesome!

It is a big change, but I am so happy about it!

Just Around The Corner

Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and I’m a little ready, and a little not… I spent last weekend cleaning the kitchen, washing dishes, and prepping a few dishes for Thanksgiving in advance. I’ve got the plates, and bowls that we use for holidays washed and ready to go. I still need to make my list of everything that we will need for the day.

I plan on shopping for Thanksgiving next Monday. I hope I remember it all. Agnes only has one day of school next week, and the boys only have two. They will all be home to keep be company while I’m cooking for the family.

There is still so much to be done around the house… I hope I can get it all together in time.

What about you… Are you ready for Thanksgiving?

The Cold Weather Has Arrived

The cold weather has moved into our little neck of the woods, and the Miss and I are hiding out today. The house is all stocked up, so we don’t need to get out of the house, well until we need to go pick-up the little guys from school.

I’ve been crocheting teacher gifts for Christmas, and catching up on the dishes and laundry too. I was actually all caught up for a good two days, then I slacked off on the housekeeping duties, and the mess has returned. I guess that is another reason that I need to stay indoors.

I’m on my second double cup of coffee, and I’m probably going to need another to warm up, and wake up too. It has been a long week, and the little ones haven’t been too cooperative in the chilly weather. Snow is on the way for the weekend, so maybe that will cheer them up a bit.

What about you… What do you have going on today?
