Today’s To Do List

Man oh man it is Monday again, and that means it is time to go and get the groceries for the week. I hope to get to the store this morning, before it gets too hot outside. Dylan is still asleep, so I have plenty of time to get my list and coupons together.

Here is the plan for today:

*Grocery Shop
*Focus Cleaning-Dining Room
*Clean out the fridge
*Put away 3 loads of laundry
*Wash 3 loads of laundry
*Take out the trash
*Give the cats flea treatments
*Wash and put away dishes

I read about making your own baby wipes over at Momma’s Mercy, and I thought it sounded like a great idea to try. I’m always in need of baby wipes, and they are getting so expensive. So I am going to try and make some homemade baby wipes this week. Thade has offered to help out too.

This weeks Shopping Savings

I shopped at Walgreens and Dillons this week, and saved a bundle! I shopped the loss leaders and added in my coupons. Here are my lists and savings:

Dillons:

1 box of Chex Cereal Wheat:$3.73
1 box of Chex Cereal Rice:$3.73
1 box of Chex Cereal Corn:$3.73
1 box of Lucky Charms:$3.99
1 Worcestershire Sauce: $1.09
2 Sheds Spread Country Crock: $3.00
6 cans Hunt’s Manwich Sauce: $6.00
2 Hunt’s Ketchup: $2.00
1 Onion Powder: $1.00
1 Box of Ritz Crackers: $2.50
1 Chips A Hoy Cookies: $2.50
1 Gallon of Whole Milk: FREE!!!!!

Total after coupons and loss leader savings: $28.41!

Checking my receipt I had $10.50 in coupons and $7.24 in store sales. They had a great sale going on Hunt’s and Nabisco products. If the item had a NASCAR theme, and you mixed or matched 10 items, you got $2.00 off of your grocery bill. I took advantage of the sale and stocked up on snack items, and condiments. Thade had fun looking for his favorite NASCAR drivers on the packages too.

Walgreens:
2 packs of Huggies size 3 diapers: $15.00 ($3.00 off in coupons)
1 pack of Pull-Ups: $7.00 ($2.00 off in coupons)
2 Tuf Paper Towels: $1.00
2 Puffs Tissues: $1.78
2 Walgreens Baby Wipes 80 count : $4.50
Oral Gel Training Toothpaste: $3.79
Skintimate Shaving Gel: $1.00 ($1.00 off coupon)

Grand Total with store savings and coupons $35.05!

I love this store, I had $6.00 in coupons, and $7.64 shopping the sale items, saving me $13.64! This month at Walgreens they are having great sales on Baby Care Items, so make sure and pick up your Easy Saver Catalog.

Between the two stores I saved a total of $31.38!

Late Night = Early Morning

I wonder how long a person can go without sleep? Dylan refused to go to sleep until 11:00 p.m., and was up to eat at 1:30 a.m., didn’t go back to sleep until 3:00 a.m., and was back up at 6:30 a.m. Thade was up late too, and woke right up at 6:45 a.m. This has been going on for over a week now, and I’m beat.

Busy days

The last 2 days have been non-stop. Thade is trying his hardest to give up naps all together (bummer). Dylan is now skipping 2 naps a day, and nursing an extra 2 times a at night(really big bummer). I’ve been wearing him more and more in the Snugli so I can get a few phone calls made, and e-mail all caught up without him yelling at me constantly. He is a little “mommy attached” at the moment.

I took the boys shopping yesterday. We did pretty good on the savings side, and both of the boys were great at the stores. Our Walgreens hasn’t opened yet, so we are still driving 30 minutes away. I can’t wait for our Walgreens to open, it will save me so much time, and gas money too. Now if we could just get Dillons, Aldi, and Arby’s in our town, we would be all set.

Today I’m cleaning, doing laundry, and baking some items for the weekend. James has been craving Chex Mix, I can’t say no to making that. Great now I’m craving that too. Better go and grab a late lunch while I have a chance.

Never mind the lunch,I hear Dylan waking up from his nap. I had better get back to the little guy.

The price of basics

I went out to the store today for the basics, and I came home completely sticker shocked!!!!! Gas was up to $3.29 for Unleaded, it was $3.19 yesterday. Not quite a bargain, but at least a little less. One gallon of milk is now $3.98 for the Wal-Mart brand, and $4.42 for Hiland! Last week milk was $2.90 for the Wal-Mart brand. Even eggs are getting a little pricey at $1.38 for a dozen.

The milk prices are what worry me the most. Thade drinks about three to four gallons of milk a week. I try (my hardest) to keep the grocery bill around $100.00 per week, and if you figure in $16.00 in milk that is a big chunk of the budget. Add in diapers, wipes and Pull-Ups too, and it looks like it is going to be Ramen Noodles on the menu for quite a while.

How are you coping with the increase in gas and grocery prices, and still staying on budget?
