My Day Off

I had such a great day off today. I came home refreshed and slightly more glamorous with a new hair-cut 😉 I called my mom on the way to the salon (it is the same drive for both of us) to see if she wanted to meet for a coffee, and for a girl’s day too.

We ended up going to Payless shoes, where I got a cute pair of sneakers, and she found some adorable red boots with a nice high heel. We then headed over to Dollar Tree which was so cool. I found so many great Christmas presents. I found the tote-bags that I had been searching for, and new Christmas Stockings for the kiddos. I also picked up a few stocking stuffers, and a new Christmas decoration for the front door.

After all of the walking and shopping it was time for some Starbucks. I love that coffee shop, and I’m a big coffee drinker too. It was such a treat getting to sit inside, enjoy the quiet atmosphere and relax. We split two desserts and I had a Peppermint Mocha Latte, and she had the Gingerbread Latte, so good. I also picked up a Penguin Cookie for Thade, so he could have a nice treat too.  I think I’m going to have to do this more often.

I thought I should treat my hubby too, so I picked up his favorite Arby’s for dinner. When I got home Thade was at the door, and Dylan was a little nervous about my new hair-cut. I kept saying “same Mommy, just better hair.” James said that the boys were great! I see another “Nico Day Off” in the future 😉

Shopping & Nico’s Day Off

Did you wake up early and shop the Black Friday sales? I slept in as long as my little kids would let me. I thought about going shopping, as I was up at 3:00 a.m. with the little guy (teething). I thought maybe I could bundle up and head out, but then I remembered that it was barely above freezing, and I decided to catch a little more sleep.

There was one sale that I want to check out. Walgreens is having a 7 hour sale, and they have Bounty Paper Towels (select-a-size) for $.99 with store coupon, they also had some cute Beanie Baby stocking stuffers. I might have to go out before my day off.

This afternoon I’m going out and getting my hair-cut, and going to Starbucks! It is about a 30 minute drive, but well worth it. I’m looking forward to the peace and quiet, I just hope I don’t fall asleep in the Hair Salon.  I’m going to invest in some super yummy coffee for me too, Nico runs much better on coffee 😉

Are you shopping today, or starting your Christmas decorating?

Christmas Decorating Has Begun

On my block the Christmas decorating has begun, but not at my house just yet. Today I have already seen two houses on our block that are completely decorated. When I went out to fix our flag on the flag-pole my neighbor was up on a ladder hanging lights in some pretty gusty winds. Man they are on top of decorating. My tree is still in hiding, and I think I might have the ornaments in the utility room, maybe. And just where did I hide the wreath, and the ornaments for the upstairs tree?

I haven’t even thought about the outdoors, and I keep it pretty simple when it comes to decorating indoors. There is one tree downstairs, one upstairs in the boys room, and maybe a wreath. Sounds pretty sad. This year I’m going to do better, I hope…

How are you decorating for the holidays? Do you decorate outdoors too? Any suggestions to make Nico’s home a little more jolly for the holidays would be greatly appreciated 🙂

Dear Camera Please Talk to the Computer

I’m having a heck of a time getting pictures to load on to my laptop this morning. So camera please talk to the laptop and load already 😉

Last night went so much better. Dylan seems to be feeling pretty good, and yesterday he sat up all by himself without any assistance. He was pretty happy about that, and me too. I know any day now he will be up and crawling. Then again he will be up and crawling, and into EVERYTHING…

I’m feeling much better today too, the evil headache has left my noggin. I’ll be doing lots of cleaning up around the house today as Thade has turned every square inch of the downstairs into a toy box, and I’m sick of stepping on Lightning McQueen. As always the dishes and laundry need to be done too, and the trash needs taken out. Better grab another cup of coffee and get to it.

Noon and Nothing has been Accomplished

It all began with bath-time last night. I noticed that the little one had broken out in quite a rash, we both thought it would be best if I got him out to the doctor quickly. We were both worried that he had an allergic reaction to his baby food, James stayed home with Thade and I took Dylan out to Urgent Care.

Dylan was not too happy at all. It was late, cold, and he seemed pretty sure that he was out there to get a shot. I was grateful that our hospital just opened Urgent Care, they stay open until 11:00 p.m., and we were in and out rather quickly. The Doctor said that it was baby eczema, it was irritated by cold weather, and too many baths. O.k. so I’m in a little trouble for over bathing my son, who knew… I was given a prescription to fill on Saturday.

We went back out in to the cold, and headed home. I think it was around 9:30 p.m. when we made it back, and Thade was ready for bed (so was I). I was getting everybody settled down, when James said there was another problem… One of his lenses had popped out of his glasses, and we could not find the screw from the frames anywhere. Luckily we had an eye-glass repair kit on hand. I tried and tried to fix the glasses, but had no luck. In this time though, I had to get Thade off to bed and Dylan was not happy. Dylan screamed at me for a good hour and a half, while I tried desperately to get the teeny tiny screw into the frames.

Finally at 11:00 p.m. (after nursing Dylan for the 2nd time) Dylan drifted off to dreamland, and I finally found a screw that fit the frames. Yahoo! I repaired the glasses, and happily presented them to my hubby, and then I called it a night too.

Everybody was up bright and early today. At 10:00 a.m. I thought we had better get out and get the prescription filled. Off to Walgreens we go, again, third trip this week. I took both of the boys, and hoped this would be a quick trip. We get to the Pharmacy, no lines, all right, but as usual there had to be a problem with something.  For some reason the insurance card was not playing nice with their computer system. A good 15 minute wait, and Thade getting pretty grumpy. The Pharmacist said I could go shop and they would call me when it was ready.

We walked, and walked, and walked… Thade mad in the cart, and Dylan getting heavier and heavier in the Snugli, my noggin was splitting. An hour had passed, I decided to head over to the Pharmacy and see what was going on. They said that the prescription hadn’t been filled yet, but they would hurry. Another fifteen minutes, and finally the single magical tube of calming baby cream was filled, and we were all ready to go.

It was noon by the time that we made it home, Thade was starving. Time to go and make lunch for all the boys, and find some migraine medicine for me. I still haven’t started the laundry from yesterday, the dishes are piled of every possible surface in the kitchen, and I’m completely exhausted. This is going to be one of those days, Starbucks take me away 😉
