Who Made the Mess?

mess-1.JPGmess-2.JPGmess-3.JPG

Around my birthday I received a Bissell Perfect Sweep Turbo from my Mom, and it is one awesome cleaning machine! I have had so much fun cleaning up around the house, and the Perfect Sweep Turbo can clean Carpet and Hardwood floors beautifully! It is also very quiet, I can clean while Dylan is playing in his Bouncer, and it doesn’t bother him a bit. You can also clean while talking on the phone too, just in case you are in to that ๐Ÿ˜‰

One evening after dinner, we were enjoying some tasty Chocolate Bundt Cake, and I was sweeping up in the Dining Room. My hubby was impressed at just how quiet the Sweeper was, and I was telling him just how easy it was to clean with it. Just then Thade proudly stated “Mom, I made more crumbs for you to clean!” James and I both fell apart laughing at the Chocolate Cake mess that Thade had made in the Living Room, it was just too funny. He was so proud that he had another cleaning task for Mom. The Bissell Perfect Sweep cleaned up all of the Cake crumbs beautifully, and I went on ahead and swept up the rest of the living room while I was at it.

Thanks again for the great sweeper Mom (Nana)! It has truly changed my cleaning up routine, and it has come in pretty handy with all the little mess makers in my house ๐Ÿ˜‰

Bad Words and Shopping Trips

I’m sad to admit this, I made the third trip to the store this week, today. I had a feeling it was going to be one of those days. I’m still sick, but we had to get out today, the weather will be bad tomorrow. Dylan was out of Rice Cereal, Puffs, and he only had one more day of baby food in the pantry, and then I needed to stock up on Kitty Litter at Dollar General, and I spotted a sale on Milk at Walgreens, so this was going to be three stops guaranteed.

Then I remembered that I needed to run to the post office, and take the water bill by too, so we are now looking at 5 stops. I thought I had better take my hubby’s Jeep, I had a gigantic list, and there is plenty of room in my Hubby’s car. I got everybody loaded up and we headed off to the first stop the Post Office. Letter mailed, and I’m off to City Hall to drop off the Water Bill, I’m approaching a Traffic Light, and yeah its green… Just then I notice something out of the corner of my eye, and I have to lock down the brakes, hard. Two boys on two bikes paying NO ATTENTION as they gun it through their red light, I slam on the brakes so hard it throws my bag into the floorboard, and I say some choice “Tony Stewart” like phrases. Luckily I wasn’t hit from behind, and both of the kids were fine, but my goodness I was mad. We’ve been in an accident before when Thade was just a baby, and I never want that to happen again, and then I’m mad because these irresponsible boys are not paying any attention to TRAFFIC, and they could get themselves seriously hurt! It makes me worry that one day, one of my boys might just be that irresponsible.

I pull over at City Hall and take the bill to the drop off, still upset from the almost accident. I tell both kids to never ever do that, and to pay attention when you are on your bike, and always stop at Stop Lights, they both look at me like I am crazy.

We make it to Dollar General, and then to Wal-Mart. I’m feeling yucky, and both boys are tired of shopping. Thade likes to walk at Wal-Mart, but I try to keep him in the cart as long as possible. I had one item to return, so a quick stop off at Customer Service, and then we are off to shop.ย  I think it ended up taking about an hour and a half at Wal-Mart, and Thade was finally let out of the cart at Produce, he was thrilled. At check-out he is restless, but he did his best to be patient. I notice Dylan sitting a little funny in his seat, and I soon realize that his diaper has leaked everywhere.

I have a full cart, so stopping off at the rest room for a change isn’t an option, so we head to the car. I get Thade in the Jeep, and grab the supplies out of the diaper bag, I made a makeshift changing table in the back of the Jeep and get Dylan changed, and into a new outfit. I always carry a back-up change of clothes in my bag.ย  It took awhile, and even one of the cart guys offered to help me out loading all of the groceries. I tried to explain that we had a diaper emergency, and he said “I just thought that you were having a hard time loading all of the groceries”.ย  I appreciated the help, and he even told me about when his kid’s diaper leaked everywhere too, funny, at least I’m not the only one ๐Ÿ˜‰

One more stop and Dylan was just about asleep. We only had to go about six blocks to Walgreens, so Thade and I did our best to keep Dylan awake. We made it to Walgreens, both kids awake, and Mommy exhausted, time to grab the milk and get home. Only 2 purchases at Walgreens today, and my cell phone was ringing as we headed back to the car. It was my hubby calling, he was worried about us, we had been gone almost 3 hours. I told him all about my adventures, and he met me at the door when I got home to help and unload all of the groceries. He is such a great guy ๐Ÿ™‚

So tonight I’ve got a grumpy headache, and my stomach is still a mess, and it is time to go and fix dinner. I’m ready to call it an early day ๐Ÿ˜‰

February 2008 Savings

ย February brought me a little bit of savings… I saved $30.49 using my coupons. That brings my year to date total up to $76.45, not too bad for the first two months in the year ๐Ÿ™‚

Better Weather, but I’m Under the Weather

Yesterday the sun was warm, and the outdoors are showing signs of Spring, and where am I?ย  Indoors feeling not so well. I’m so sick of being sick, and my stomach is unwell this morning, again…ย  I hope to shake this flu thing off by tomorrow, it is going to be in the 60’s. We’ll have to get all of the errands run on the weekend, by Monday the sleet and icy cold weather is making another return.

Thade has been begging to go outdoors and dig in the dirt, if I’m feeling better we’ll have to go out and play today. I hope that Spring gets here sooner than later ๐Ÿ˜‰

Ice Cream Cupcakes by Rob & Nico

My super-rad brother Rob came up with this great idea. We were talking about Thade’s 4th birthday party and what to make, Rob said “they make Ice Cream Birthday Cake, but no Ice Cream Cupcakes”, I though that sounded perfect for the party. So thanks again to Rob for the awesome idea, which made for some delicious Ice Cream Cupcakes.

Here is what you need:

  • 12 Oreo Cookies
  • 2 Tablespoons Melted Butter or Margarine
  • 1 Quart of your Favorite Ice Cream (I used Vanilla)
  • 1 Tub of Cool Whip ( I used the Light version)
  • Sprinkles of your choice, the more the merrier (Pretty Sugars would work too)
  • PAM or any Vegetable Oil Spray will work
  • Aluminum Foil Cupcake Liners, Ice Cream Scoop, 2 Butter Knives, Plastic Wrap, Microwave safe bowl, Heavy Duty Quart sized Ziploc Bag, Cookie Sheet, and Ambitious Toddler (for the cookie smashing)

Separate the Oreo cookies and scrape out all of the icing with your trusty Butter Knife, feel free to eat all of the icing, you wouldn’t want that going to waste ๐Ÿ˜‰ Place the 24 cookie halves into a Heavy Duty Quart Sized Ziploc Bag, and pass the cookie smashing duties over to the toddler. While your kiddo is busy smashing away, melt 2 Tablespoons of Butter in the microwave in a microwave safe bowl. Once your kiddo has exhausted himself from all of the cookie smashing, add the Cookie Crumbs to the melted Butter, and stir until combined.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees, and get out your Aluminum Cupcake Liners. I used 12 liners, and mine were also paper lined, so I removed the paper liner, but saved the paper liner for later baking… Give the Aluminum Liner a little spray with the PAM, and place a spoonful of the Oreo cookie mixture in each liner. Smooth the mixture out, and bake for about 5-7 minutes, just until the cookie is set.

After the Cookies have cooled, give the liners one more tiny spray of PAM, just to make sure that nothing is going to stick. Add a scoop of Ice Cream to each of the liners, and smooth out the scoops with your Butter Knife. Carefully wrap each of the Ice Cream Cupcakes with Plastic Wrap, and place them in the freezer until you are ready to Ice them.

Let your Cool Whip soften just a bit, and unwrap your Ice Cream Cupcakes. Top the Ice Cream Cupcakes with the Cool Whip “icing”, and use your favorite sprinkles to decorate. If it isn’t party time just yet, place the Iced Cupcakes back in the freezer till its time for the Party ๐Ÿ™‚

The Ice Cream Cupcakes were a blast to make, and a little messy too. Thade had so much fun smashing the cookies, and choosing the Sprinkles. They did take a little bit of time to make, but it was all worth it. The trick too is to keep everything nice and cold, the Ice Cream gets melty fast, so feel free to use your freezer, often.

The Ice Cream Cupcakes were a big hit at the party too. The Cupcake size was the perfect amount of Ice Cream, right next to a Big Piece of Chocolate Cake.

If you try them out, let me know how they turn out… Happy Baking, and enjoy making the Ice Cream Cupcakes ๐Ÿ˜‰
