Last Chance Friday

Today is Thade’s final day at VBS, and he is a little sad that his fun week at VBS is already over. He has been asking what are we going to be doing next week. I have him signed up for another VBS, and I’ll be volunteering in either the Toddler Crafts or the Nursery, and bringing cookies too. I’m bringing Dylan along too. I think it is going to be a lot of fun for all of us, and I know that Thade is already looking forward to the next VBS.

Since I only have one kiddo to chase after this morning, I’m going to run over the the Car Wash and detail my hubby’s car. It really needs to be done, and I thought it would be a nice surprise for him. It is still cool in the morning, so I think I can get the task accomplished. I just hope Dylan doesn’t mind the sound of the vacuum…

Yesterday we were planning on going to lunch, but we decided to head home and I made super tasty quesadillas. We might go out for lunch today, it would be nice, and I won’t have to heat up the kitchen. I’ll probably swing by McDonald’s and grab a Happy Meal for Thade, he has done a great job at VBS this week!

It is also county fair time this weekend, and we might go and check out the rides. It is so hot by midday, and the boy’s have switched to an 8:00 p.m. bedtime, so that doesn’t leave too much time in the evening to get out and ride the rides. We’ll see if we make it, it is just too hot for Dylan.

Do you have big weekend plans, and a busy Friday to get through.

We Have Green Beans

Well it is just a handful, but we will get some veggies out of the garden. I was so happy to see the Green Beans, and I have a few more that are almost ready to be picked. I’m planning on making a batch of New Potatoes with Green beans and bacon out of the home-grown veggies.

Sadly my zucchini didn’t make it, but I still have a few more blossoms, so maybe we’ll get one or two. This organic gardener is hoping for the best!

The Cookie Caterer

My marathon cookie baking is finally finished, and it was a lot of fun!

I ended up baking (or no baking) just over 21 dozen cookies. There were plenty left over for snacks at home, but the Vanilla Iced Sugar Cookies made it just one day, they were so tasty.

I ended up taking the cookies this morning, and I loaded up my hubby’s car with 5 roasting pans of cookies. I lucked out though. My Mother in Law was visiting this morning, so she helped me carry in all of the cookies at VBS. My kitty was sad to see the cookies go, he loves baked goods… Dylan was happy to sample a new recipe, so no complaints from him.

I had so much fun baking, and I have signed up to bake another 10 dozen cookies for another local VBS. It looks like I’ll be spending more time in the kitchen, but I’m looking forward to it.

An Award, for Moi!

I was so surprised to see this today. My friend Mimi of Mimi’s Jewel Box has given me an Arte Y Pico Award! Thank you so much Mimi, you made my day!

I’m giving the Arte Y Pico Award to five of my favorite blogs…

Marva at Blessed Frugalness Times Two With Twins

Susan at Being Kylie’s Mom

Maggie at The Erratic Homemaker

The Economical Baby

Heidi at My Paper Crane

I hope that you take some time and check out these five fantastic blogs. A big congrats and a big hug to all of the winners.

Winners, the award winners’ rules are:

  • You have to pick 5 blogs that you think deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also for contributing to the blogging community, no matter what language.
  • Each award has to have the name of the author and also a link to his or her blog to be visited by everyone.
  • Each award winner has to show the award and put the name and link to the blog that has given her or him the award itself.
  • The award-winner and the one who has given the prize must show the link of the “Arte y Pico” blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award. http://arteypico.blogspot.com/

Thanks again Mimi, sending big hugs your way!

Let’s Share

Next week is a busy week, Thade has VBS Monday through Friday, and James and I will be sharing his car. We’ve been working on a schedule to make sure that we get everything done, and everyone where they need to be.

It is going to be an interesting week (or more). I’ve been really used to having my car and running errands around Dylan’s nap schedule, so I’m hoping for the best. We’ll make it work though, and hopefully my car will be back up and running soon.
