What a Day, and Them Some

Yesterday my family went all out! My Mom came up early and brought me a Red Velvet Cake for my birthday, along with some great presents too. We also went out to breakfast with Dylan and had a great time. It was so great to get to spend time with my Mom, she is the best.

My hubby surprised me with an amazing new camera, and great gifts from the kiddos. I can’t wait to start taking lots of pictures! He also brought me home a great big Chocolate cake too, so yummy.

We then went out to lunch at one of my favorite places El Charro! Margaritas may or may not have been involved for this birthday girl… The meal was delicious, and I got an extra surprise at the end of lunch. I got an order of fried ice cream smashed all over my face! I couldn’t stop laughing, even though there was whipped cream up my nose. Thank goodness no one had their camera ready.

In the afternoon my Mother in law came by to visit too… She brought along Valentine’s treats for the kiddos, a birthday gift for me, a pretty cake, and she treated us all to dinner out.

My best friend came by too with her little boy, and we all had a fun evening together.  It was such a great birthday, and I still have a few birthday surprises today.

My brother has a few presents on the way, and I can’t wait to see what they are. Our birthdays are really close, so I had better get his presents ordered. We are also planning going Bowling together to celebrate both of our birthdays.

Also, my best friend Shaunna and my Mom got me a trip to the Day Spa today, and I can’t wait!!! I’ve got a one hour massage, a pedicure, and I’m even getting my hair styled today too. I’m looking forward to a nice relaxing (boy free) afternoon. My friends and family have sure spoiled me this year, but I love them all dearly for it!

Mr. Independent

Last week my little one learned a phrase that made me a little sad… I was carrying Dylan as we were waiting for Thade to get out of school, and that is when Dylan said “no mom, want down, want to walk”. My little one is growing up fast and becoming more and more independent every day.

He can now brush his own teeth, helps pick up his toys, and he mimics anything that his big brother can do. It is cool to see my little one becoming a toddler, but it is tough on this Mommy too.

Who’s That Knocking On The Door

Thursday we had two super-cool visitors, and one sweet treat too. When we got home from our run to the grocery store, there was a knock on the door, and a yummy plate of cupcakes too.

My sweet friend Stacey and her adorable Daughter brought us over a plate full of Baby Cakes, and they were so tasty. We really appreciated the get well treat, and I’ve got to get the recipe from her too. These little cakes were so good. Thanks again!

What To Do With Those Strawberries

I had a few Strawberries left over from my Chocolate Ganache Dipped Strawberries, and I wanted them to go to good use. Today I’m running low on everything in the kitchen, but I’ve got enough Oatmeal to make some tasty muffins for breakfast, so let’s get to it.

I’m using my favorite recipe for Oatmeal Muffins, but I am adding in a few extras.

After you have combined the Oats and Milk add in a few Chopped Strawberries, and a teaspoon of Vanilla, then let it hang out for 15 minutes.

You need one bowl for the dry ingredients, and one bowl for the wet ingredients.

Once the Oats & Milk have set for 15 minutes, pour the mixture into the egg and oil bowl, stir to combine. Then add the mixture into the dry ingredients bowl, and stir to combine. Time to fill the muffin tin.

Pop them into the oven for about 23 minutes.

Once they are all done, move them to a rack to cool, and you’ve got yummy Strawberry Oatmeal Muffins. This would make a tasty Valentine’s Day breakfast, or a sweet treat for anytime.
