Treats from the kitchen: July

July was a non-stop cookie baking month. Every time I turned around I needed to bake another dozen or two. It wasn’t all just cookies over here, there were lots of other tasty treats too…

005

We made tasty Rainbow cupcakes on a rainy Summer day.

002

I make a big batch of Sugar Dumplings whenever I serve Chicken Chow Mien.

027

I made lots of cakerdoodles and four loaves of Zucchini Bread this month too.

007

I made more cakerdoodles for VBS.

004

I made a big batch of jumbo butterscotch haystacks too. They were my favorite this month.

Cookie Baking Day

I have a busy Saturday ahead of me. I needed to run to the store last night, but ran out of energy to get there, my early morning mowing adventure zapped it out of me. James is off today and will watch the kiddos so I can shop in peace, so that is pretty cool. Anyway I have to get the weekly groceries, and cookie baking supplies too.

0261

Today I’m baking 20 dozen cookies for our Church’s VBS. This year I’ve decided to stick to just one cookie to bake, and I’ll be baking Cakerdoodles. They are easy and fast, so maybe I won’t be in the kitchen all day. Time to grab some coffee, finalize my shopping list, and get to it. Have a great weekend everybody.

Let’s Make Rainbow Cupcakes

0011

Do you have a rainy day, and a whole bunch of bowls?

0021

Then you can make some Rainbow Cupcakes!

0061

You will need a few helpers.

008

You will also need:

  • 1 White Cake Mix (mix according to package directions)
  • Food coloring
  • Icing, and cupcake liners too

009

Pick out your favorite colors, and then separate the cake batter into the small bowls. I used about 3/4 of a cup  of batter in each dish, and then dyed the batter Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple.

010

Then just spoon all of the rainbow colors into the liners one spoonful at a time.

0121

Bake according to your cake mix directions.

0141

Let them cool, and frost them with some Fluffy Cloud Icing.

018

Delicious!

019

They are a perfect rainy day treat!

0033

I had a super-fun cookie catering gig that called for 15 dozen cookies.

0044

I made these homemade Peanut Butter-Nutella Cups  for me to snack on, they were so good.
