June’s Monthly Menu

Yesterday Thade and I were out for a bit, and he asked me when June was… Holy moly, I replied it is tomorrow. That’s when I realized that I hadn’t planned a menu yet. I came home and got to work.

April’s Tasty Treats

I have lots of photos to share from my kitchen in April. I got back to baking (I typed caking the first time), and cooked ahead a lot of meals for the freezer. I’m going through recipes, and thinking up snacks for the upcoming Summer months too. Just a few more days, and the boys are home all the time!

One very humid afternoon I made giant Cinnamon Rolls.

Yay for humidity! And yay for Giant Rolls too.

Breakfast for dinner night has become a staple in my menu. It is tasty, and usually everyone will eat without too many complaints.

My family is still on a Cinnamon Cake kick. I’m making another one of these today.

In April I tried my best to make our groceries stretch… I baked more from scratch. The boys liked the homemade mini banana muffins for their school snacks.

I also baked a few loaves of bread from scratch. I need to do this at least once a week. The homemade bread is delicious.

I tried out a new recipe…

I made a few loaves of Homemade French Bread for spaghetti night. It was the perfect side.

It wasn’t as big and fluffy as the store bought version, but it was egg and dairy free. I’ll keep working on perfecting this recipe. The French Bread was a big hit with the entire family.

We kept Easter low-key. I made a few extra desserts. I made a Chocolate cream pie for the family, and a Raspberry Zinger Cake for me.

How I love Raspberry Zinger cake!

Well I’m off to the kitchen this morning. I’m baking a cake, and I need to figure out what to make for lunch too.

Bread Baking Days

This week I’m trying not to grocery shop until Friday. Wouldn’t you know it, I ran out of bread… I’ve always loved baking bread, but I haven’t done it in a long time. The weather was perfect for baking yesterday, so I spent the day in the kitchen.

I had enough bananas on hand to make a batch of muffins. The family had also requested another Cinnamon cake. I decided to make a few loaves of White Bread, and then I decided to try my hand at baking French Bread.

The French bread was going to take the longest, so I started it first. I also started my White Bread dough, so it had plenty of time to rest.

I baked the muffins, and the cake. The oven was preheated for the breads, and there was plenty of warm spots to rise bread dough.

The mini muffins are for the boy’s snacks for school. I also had enough left to make big muffins for breakfast.

The White Bread turned out just right. That will make plenty of lunches for the boys. The homemade bread is also so tasty too. I really need to make this once a week.

Lastly was the French Bread. I was making Spaghetti for dinner, and I thought it would be a perfect side. It took quite awhile to make the bread, but the savings were well worth it.

It was a big hit too. Thade absolutely loved it, and so did my hubby.

I will be making this again! The French Bread was delicious.

The kitchen was a mess, but it was nice spending a day baking for my family. I really need to make this a habit. It would help out a bit with the savings, and the house smelled amazing.

Sneak Peek Of April’s Tasty Treats

Hello from my kitchen. I’m spending the day baking breads, cakes, and muffins too. The weather is cool this morning, and the house could use a bit of warming up.

I’ve got a few photos to share of the tasty treats that I’ve been baking in April.

Giant Cinnamon Rolls on a crazy humid day!

Breakfast for Dinner. It has quickly become a weeknight go-to meal.

I’m going to sneak in a few chores while the bread dough is rising. Today I’m making two loaves of White Bread, and I’m trying my hand at making a few loaves of French Bread too. I hope it turns out.
