Grocery Woes…

Let’s get ranty about the grocery store!

0017

I’ll go first. I really don’t like to grocery shop… I mean I really really really really really don’t like to grocery shop. I also live in a small town, and well a lot of the local shops are not too friendly on the pocketbook. I’m basically stuck shopping one place, and I’m tired of it.

00212

I’m grumpy when I see ridiculously over priced items, and very empty shelves. I know why they do it though. The shelves are empty, so that way you buy the over priced item, because you know you don’t want to make a second trip for one single stinking item.

00310

Here’s one more thing that makes me mad. The one product I need is way on the top shelf, and obviously under stocked. Yeah, I’m 5’4, and I will shelf-climb to get it, but it still makes me mad.

So it’s your turn, what irks you the most about the grocery store?

Shakey Shakey

Wow!!! I just felt an earthquake!!! I’ve lived in the midwest my entire life, and I never thought I would experience one, and we did, and it was a bit scary.

The kids slept right through it, but I don’t know if I will be able to sleep tonight. That was unreal.

The Fall Festival 2011

This is our second year visiting the Fall Festival/Pumpkin Patch benefiting Relay for Life, and we picked a beautiful day to go to it. We had to go later in the day this time around, so we missed out on the pumpkins, but we still had a great time.

There are hayrides, wagon rides, and lots of activities for the kids too. There are also tasty treats, and it is for a fantastic cause.

013

We were there in the afternoon, and there was a lot of people enjoying the festival.

I got to ride the wagon ride with Thade, but Dylan was anxious to check out the petting zoo.

005

The baby calves were too cute.

008

Dylan hopes to one day have a calf.

009

That little boy loves cows! The calf was really sweet, and we all got to pet him.

011

012

The boys both got their faces painted,

and we finished off the day with a Funnel cake.

016

So much fun, and super tasty too.

Autumn Day At The Fort

Dylan didn’t have preschool yesterday, and he wanted to do something fun. We needed to stay in town with Thade in school, and one of Dylan’s very favorite local sites to visit  is the Fort. Well we call it The Fort, it is really the Fort Scott National Historic Site. 0101

I like the Fort even better now that they have waived all admission fees.

012

It makes the historic Civil War site feel less like a museum, and more like a welcoming park.

015

We walk a different way every time we visit,

019

and Dylan loves to find something new.

0201

We’ll be visiting the Fort again soon, I can’t wait to see the leaves to turn their pretty autumn colors.

0091

It is also great exercise for a busy preschooler, the walking trails are wonderful.

016

So what is one of your favorite local sites that you like to visit?

Pioneer Harvest Fiesta 2011

This was the first year that we missed the tractor parade, well it’s the parade that kicks off the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta. I thought that since we missed the parade, maybe we should check out the event and see what it was all about.

There was an arts & crafts exhibit, food vendors, lots of interactive displays, and of course engines and tractors galore.

035

048

Dylan loved the wooden tractor display. We even met the gentleman that carved them all by hand.

053

055

057

This was one of the most unique tractors, and it had a loud train whistle.

058

Dylan just loves the John Deere tractors, they are his favorite color green.

060

062

Dylan just loves those tractors!

064

We stopped off for the most delicious homemade ice cream.

030

Agnes wasn’t so sure about all the tractors, but she was a trooper about it.

036

The Pioneer Harvest Fiesta was a lot of fun, I’m glad we spent the day enjoying the Autumn weather.
