Yard Sale Finds

This weekend was the City Wide Yard sale, and my hubby really wanted to go and check out the sales. We loaded up the kiddos on a cold Saturday morning, and drove all around town looking for some good deals.

006

I found a few cute finds for the nursery.

005

James spotted the Sugar and Flour canisters for $2.00 each. I think they are going to look great in the kitchen.

008

I couldn’t pass up the Bowling Bag, Ball, and Shoes for just $1.oo! I love bowling bags, and this one came with a story too. The combo has never been involved in a perfect game, that made me laugh.

009

I found the big blue crock for just $1.00, and a soup mug for a quarter. You can never have too many mugs for Fall soups.

The kiddos also came home with some new toys, and I also picked up a bag of baby clothes for under $2.00 at a friend’s sale. I also found a wreath for $2.00 that will be perfect for the front door when Christmas arrives.

The morning was a blast, and the kiddos did really well at all of the sales. I think we’ve got a couple of savvy bargain hunters on our hands.

An Afternoon Out

002

James had a much needed half day off, and he sent me out of the house for a little break. There was an awesome thunderstorm moving in, and I saw a great opportunity  to get some pictures of the clouds.

007

I also got to head downtown and visit a few antique shops, and look for some fabric too. Checking out the antique stores was really fun, but I still haven’t found the fabric that I am looking for.

The mid-afternoon thunderstorm came and went. I really appreciated the afternoon out too.

The Tractor Parade

027

The rain was moving in, but that wasn’t going to keep up from missing one of our favorite parades.

0014

Every year, when Fall finally arrives the first Fall activity is the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta, and it starts off with a fun parade. There are tractors, floats, and plenty of candy too. We found a great spot, and the kiddos brought along their back-packs to bring home all of the candy loot.

040

Dylan’s favorite wasn’t a tractor though, it was our local trolley. Dylan is obsessed with the trolley, and we are lucky enough that it drives by our house several times a day.

0053

Whenever Dylan spots the trolley, he shouts “I love you Trolley, Ding Ding!” It is pretty cute.

044

There were lots and lots of vintage fire trucks too.

048

I think Thade found a new favorite at this year’s parade too. College cheerleaders, and he even got a high-five from a few of the volleyball players too.

021

You gotta love Thade!

053

Back to the Tractors.

054

We always try and pick a favorite, and after seeing all of these tractors, I totally want to drive one.

055

Besides the Tractors, we also spotted the Cat in the Hat.

056

And a few little trains too.

062

Soon, the rain started really coming down, and the parade got to moving.

072

Rain or shine the Pioneer Harvest Fiesta parade is always a lot of fun. The kiddos also came home with way too much candy, but they were pretty happy about that.

I Got $1.00

0011

I had seen this online, but I didn’t know if our town was participating… This weekend there is a great program called Bucks for Buckles and if you are spotted with your seat-belt on you can earn $1.00! We got stopped yesterday in the school exit line, and sure enough we were all buckled in and I thought it was pretty cool to earn a buck. Keeping the kiddos safe in the car is a number one priority for me, and they are always buckled in safely in their car seats.

Yep, I’m That Lady

We had a small grocery list for the week, and I decided to bring along my reusable bags to bring home the groceries. I hate to admit this, but I’m really bad about bringing along my bags, unless I’m shopping at Aldi. I’ve put Thade in charge of reminding me to bring them along when we shop any where, and Dylan is happy to help carry the bags too. I also had a handful of coupons in hand to shop with this week too.

So we go thorough the store, and I’m off to the checkout with reusable bags in hand, and checkout goes something like this.

I unload the bags first, and with a big smile, I say: I’ve brought along my own bags.

Cashier: Really giant sigh, and a very big eye roll.

I quickly loaded up the conveyor belt with all of the items, and when the groceries were almost finished making their way into their reusable bags, I had to say…

Nico: I’ve also got a few coupons…

Cashier: Really really really big sigh, and an even bigger eye roll.

0011

Yeah I’m totally that lady, but happily I didn’t bring home another plastic bag, and I also saved about $5.00 on my grocery bill. It didn’t come without a snarky sigh and a few eye rolls though…
