Long Weekend

Three days off and everyone is home, even James. I don’t think he has had Labor Day off for the last thirteen years. We don’t have any plans. We’ll probably play some board games, watch a little netflix, and maybe some preseason football too.

I’d like to make some Chocolate Chip cookies, and maybe some Cinnamon Rolls too. Maybe a Chocolate Bundt Cake too. I also hope to get in some crocheting too. I completed my second handmade Christmas gift yesterday.

I’m making pretty good progress on the handmade gifts. I hope they keep the family warm and toasty.

The boys are happy about the long weekend. They both finished all of their homework at school, so their weekend is free. The first “week” of school went pretty well. Agnes can’t wait for next Wednesday, she is super pumped for preschool to begin.

I hope you are enjoying a long and relaxing weekend too.

So Yesterday

The boys were up early, and ready for school. They really enjoyed their first day back at school . There are a lot of new changes this year, but I think they will be great. Thade was happy to catch up with his friends, and he was happy to be busy with schoolwork again. Dylan loves his teacher, and he was so happy to see his best friend again. The poor little guy crashed out during the Packers game last night, right at 7:00 p.m. I carried him up during half-time. All of the kids were early to bed, and then early to rise again this morning.

Yesterday we ended up babysitting for the afternoon. I got to watch an adorable little two and a half year old, and Agnes was happy to have a new friend over to play for the day. The girls played, ran, screamed, and giggled all over the house. We also baked some cookie bars together, and our little guest couldn’t wait to ride along for the afternoon school pick-up. Both of the boys were a little shocked to see two little gals when we went to pick them up. They were a little relieved when I said that I was just babysitting for the day. I think they thought that they got a new sister as soon as they were out of the house.

It was a long day, but pretty fun. Agnes got to be the big kid. Dylan read a cute book to the girls, and he was very patient with the little ladies. I had forgotten just how busy two and a half year olds can be, I was exhausted by the end of the day.

Today it is just the Miss and I at home. The weather is rainy and cool. I’ve been catching up on housework, laundry, and working on my second handmade Christmas gift. It is so close to being complete! I have started a third, but I need to get some more yarn in the proper shades of grey.

The long weekend is almost here. Hope you have a fantastic one.

The Last Day Of Summer

Open house was last night, and we all went along with the boys. We visited Dylan’s school first, and Thade helped him find his classroom. He immediately fell in love with the western theme that his teacher decorated the hallway, and classroom with. His teacher is fantastic too, she helped him find his desk, and he really liked her. I think he is going to have a fantastic year.

We were off to Thade’s school next. His classroom is on the second floor this year, and it was easy to find too. His teacher is awesome! Thade spotted his best friend, and his teacher had open seating. The boys grabbed a seat by each other, and started putting away all of their supplies. Thade really liked his teacher too, and he even saw a few more friends in class. This is his last year in elementary school, and I know it is going to be a great one.

Today, we slept in a bit. The last two days we have been up early, driving the school route, and I think we are good to go for tomorrow. Today we are going to have fun, relax, and enjoy one more lazy day. Tomorrow’s schedule will get here soon enough.

Day Two: Up Before The Alarm

Well yesterday went pretty smoothly. We were out the door by 7:30 a.m., and practiced our new school route. It took fifteen minutes without traffic, and the boys approved of the changes. We headed off to the store, and were back home in record time.

The earlier morning routine helped Agnes get to sleep earlier, the boys still didn’t want to go to bed on time. I woke up early this morning well before the alarm rang. I haven’t heard a peep out of the boy’s room though.

Today we are going to drive the route again, and head off to a second store. We have open house tonight at both of the boys schools. I hope it goes well. Thade is really hoping to see some of his friends before the start of the school year. Dylan is really excited about meeting his teacher, and seeing his new classroom too.

Time to go wake up the troops.

And I’m Up

We have just a handful of days left until the start of school, so today I decided we really had better get up earlier. I was up, and so was Agnes. I think that little gal would be up twenty-four hours a day if I would let her.

Today we are practicing our new school route, and running a few errands while we are out too. This year there will be a little change in the school hours. The boys will be going to school until around 3:30 p.m., Dylan’s school is beginning their school day first, and Thade and Agnes’ school days both begin at the exact same time. We have to switch things up a bit.

I still need to get the kids names of their school supplies, lunch-boxes, and backpacks. We have the boy’s open houses tomorrow night, and I’m really looking forward to meeting their teachers.

Agnes won’t be starting preschool until after Labor Day, but she is getting really excited about it. She is already picking out her outfit and shoes for the big day.

Now, time for some hot coffee, and hopefully I can stay awake. I think I’m the most difficult one when it comes to early mornings.
