Me and the Sewing Machine

Well I put aside a few chores today, and spent a little quality time with my neglected sewing machine. I decided to set up shop in the utility room, in hopes that I could sew while Dylan was napping, and it worked 🙂 Thade wanted to help too, so I put him in charge of the pedal and keeping the kitties off of my project. He did really well, and has excellent foot control.

I wanted to sew a few reusable grocery bags, and I managed to get 2 1/2 finished today. I still need to sew the handles on one of them. I’m hoping to get to it this evening, but most likely  it will be tomorrow before Dylan will let me sew again. I have a few more projects that I would love to start and finish too.  I still need to make 3 curtains for the dining room, and finish the laundry organizer. Maybe I’ll make another grocery bag or two 😉

Sewing Project

I know that Christmas is all done for this year, but that isn’t stopping me from getting a jump start on a project for next year’s Christmas Tree.

I have a few yards of Christmas themed material left over from the holidays, so I’m going to start working on a Patchwork Tree Skirt for next year. I’ll be cutting and sewing while Dylan is napping, so I’m hoping he takes a good nap for Mommy 🙂   I can’t wait to get started!

A Change in the Weather

The temperature is dropping fast today, and it is going to be around 20 degrees before night-fall. We are staying in, and I’ve been busy mending a few one piece outfits for Dylan.I love to hand sew, but I don’t usually have the time to do so 😉  This afternoon Dylan took a nice nap, and I got all of the hand sewing finished.

I thought I would share a few pics from the recent Christmas Parade, since it is finally feeling more like Christmas  weather around here 😉

The parade was so much fun, but really really really cold.

Get Ready for Cooler Weather

Last night it got pretty cold, so I had to turn on the heater this morning. My stomach turned at the very thought of those gigantic gas bills from last year. Today I’m doing some little projects around the house to try and beat the huge gas bill.

I started off by grabbing 2 large rugs that we were storing upstairs, and I brought them downstairs to keep the hardwood floors warm. My hubby and I go back and forth on the subject of carpeting the hardwood, I hope the rugs will work for now. The rugs also became the cat-wrestling arena, they have been battling each other all day. What to do this Weekend

When it is going to be 100 degrees outside and a heat index of 107, I think we are going to be indoors this weekend. So what is the plan? I’m cleaning the kitchen, that should take a while. I’m also making some snacks for us to munch on during the race tomorrow. I have four loads of laundry that need put away, and all of the wastebaskets need emptied again. I’m also going to take stock of the freezers and work those found items in to next weeks menu. I need to gather up my coupons and make a shopping list too . I think I’m going to try and get a few sewing projects done too, a new top for me, and new place mats for the dining room. It looks like the weekend is going to be busy, even if we don’t leave the house.

What projects are you doing around the house when it is too hot outside?
