Still Sewing

I should have been working on the curtains, but instead I’ve finally finished sewing all of the panels for the Tree Skirt.

I pieced it together, but I’m still working out the details in my mind of how I’m actually going to sew it all together.

We’ll see how this projects goes, I hope to have it done soon, I had better have it done by Thanksgiving at least…

Did I Hear That Right…

Last weekend James was in the dining room and made a request. He asked for new curtains for all of the dining room windows, and told me to go shopping for the fabric. Really, shopping just for fabric?!? I made a special trip out yesterday, and picked up 11 yards for the curtains.

I also spotted a few Holiday fabric remnants to complete the tree skirt. I had better get to the projects, I hope that the boys will cooperate and be extra good for Mommy today.

A Start and Almost Finished

Today the weather is cold cold cold, and we are stuck indoors. I thought it would be a great opportunity to get out my sewing machine and start working on the Tree Skirt for our Christmas tree. I got a pretty good start, but I think I’m going to need a little bit more fabric.

I also ran out of thread… bummer, I guess I will have to get to the fabric shop fast! Maybe if it gets a little warmer.

I’ll have to wait a bit on the tree skirt, but I found another project to finish.

I started on this bag a long time ago. I wanted a big bag that I could carry just about everything in, and I used small Hounds-tooth fabric. Once the bag was all sewn, I realized that the hounds-tooth fabric was a bit much, so I cut out stars in coordinating fabrics, and I sewed them on by hand. It took forever, I’m not too speedy at the hand sewing.

Today I got the handles on, and I thought I was finished… I think I might sew in a few pockets to hold all of my necessities. I guess I’ll be working on this bag for a little bit more…

Homemade Gifts

I was busy sewing all last week to make a few handmade Birthday gifts for my Mom. She visited us yesterday, and my Mother in law too. We all had a fun time at Thade’s T-Ball game, even though it was really really really hot outside 😉 After the game we came home to have some tasty birthday Chocolate Bundt Cake.

I had it all planned out in my mind that I was going to make 5 reusable grocery totes and a cloth gift bag too.  I was shopping with Dylan yesterday and I spotted the mini rabbit cookie cutter that was just too cute to pass up. I thought it would make a cute “tag” on the gift bag.

Thade picked out the purple canvas for the bags, and I really love the middle pattern, it is teeny tiny daisies.

My very favorite has to be the ribbed white polyester, I know you are thinking polyester, but it is just so cute. I embellished the corner with a few buttons, and I just love how the bag turned out. I’m making one for me soon 🙂
