Simple Saturday: Outdoor Tablecloth

I haven’t done one of these d.i.y Simple Saturday posts in a very long time.

Miss Agnes and I were out browsing the fabric aisle the other evening, and the sewing bug bit me.

I decided to go through my remnants at home, and see if I had fabric big enough to sew a small tablecloth.

0028

I spotted a decent sized floral square of fabric, and it looked like it might do the trick.

It was too warm for the kids to play outside,

0018

so I set them up with a movie in the living-room.

I started to get to work.

0048

I haven’t sewed in quite awhile, so I was a bit rusty.

0067

The littlest ones came in about every two minutes to ask a question, and see why I wasn’t finished yet…

0074

I finished up the last of the decorative stitches, and I took the tablecloth outside.

We have a small table and chairs set on the side-porch, and I would love to spray-paint them. I haven’t gotten around to that project though…

0114

I’m really pleased with the new tablecloth, so the spray-paint project just might get scrapped for the Summer.

Lastly, I added a few Mason jars filled with river rocks to hold the tablecloth in place. It is a little windy (all the time) here in KS, and I also didn’t want the little pup destroying the new tablecloth. I’m going to add in a few tea-lights to the jars, and illuminate them at night when we’re sitting out on the porch. It was a Simple Saturday project, and cost effective too. I had all of the supplies on hand, I just had to do a little searching.

New Curtain

Yesterday I finally got my sewing machine out. I haven’t been able to complete a sewing project since Agnes arrived, and she was really curious about the sewing machine. I was happy that I remembered how to thread it.

I found some super cool fabric that was hidden in my closet. It was going to be a curtain for one of the upstairs windows, but I decided it might look cool on the front door. I used to former front-door cream colored curtain as a liner, it has really helped to block out the late afternoon sunlight. I loved how this project turned out. The only bad part is now I want to paint.

Shall I Sew

0074

I love to sew, and I haven’t had my sewing machine out once in the last two years… With Agnes, I just haven’t been able to find the time to craft at all. I have a long list of projects to do, and no time… This might change though, I have a cool item to hem for Dylan, and I can’t wait to get to it. I’ve missed you sewing machine.

New Curtains

James had been asking me to complete a curtain project, and I finally got it done.

0014

We have a large leaded glass window in the foyer/office, and James really wanted a curtain to cover it. I wanted to make the project by using what I had on hand, so I went through my fabrics, and found just enough to cover the 50 inch window. A few hours later and a trip to the store to buy a curtain rod, and the window is covered.

0031

One down, several windows to go… Now if I can just find some super-cute fabric for the nursery, and some more time and energy to sew, I’ll be all set.

Spring Time Tote

Yay for Spring! Time to dig out all of my super cute shoes from deep inside my closet, and get out the cute Springtime dresses too. To celebrate Spring I’ve made up a little tote to carry just the necessities. I wish I could sew a Springtime diaper bag that could carry it all.

Sending Happy Springtime Wishes to All!
