Agnes’ Quilt Update

I’ve been working on a quilt for Agnes. I thought I had it just the way that I wanted it, but then I changed my mind.

I used what I had left to make several more blocks. I thought I had more time to work, but the last bit before school snuck up on me.

I took along my fabric to clip, and sort.

Now I’m thinking of making one quilt that has the bright colors, and one that is only pink and purple.

I’ll probably change my mind a few more times before I actually get it done.

Quilting Along

Right now I have two quilts pieced out and in the works. I’m working on a quilt for James first. I got a little bit of time to start the finishing project this week, and late Friday I noticed my mistake…

I’ve sewn one little finishing square too many… So I spent Friday night hanging out with the seam ripper, and watching Portlandia.

Hopefully I’ll get back to work on the quilt next week.

Nine Patch Blocks

I’ve been sewing a little bit here and there for the last week. On Sunday I counted up how many blocks I have sewn so far. My count is up to ninety six.

I hope to make a few quilts this Autumn. I would love to have at least four made for our beds.

Agnes’ quilt is coming along. I think I have enough blocks to put it together. I love the colors.

I Caved

Yesterday I went through the rest of my fabric stash, and sewed some new nine patch blocks. I was only down to a few pieces of fabric that really wouldn’t work in a quilt, so I decided it was time to restock the fabric.

The kids and I ran out this morning, and I found some pretty fabric that will be a cute addition to my quilt.

I can’t wait to get to work on some new blocks.

Quilting

Lately I’ve been getting my sewing machine out, and working on a few little projects. I’m trying to use up the fabric stash that I have, before I go and buy anything new.

I’m down to odds and ends, and nothing really matches. So what am I to do with this little bit…

A few weeks ago I fell in love with a handful of antique quilts, but I didn’t love the price tag. James suggested that I try to make it myself, so I took his advice, and I’m working on my first Nine Patch quilt.

The quilt is going to be a bit quirky. Like I said nothing really matches, and there isn’t a rhyme or reason to my pattern placement. This is all about the method, and getting me back to sewing.

I spent the afternoon cutting 3×3 squares, and laying out Nine block patterns until I ran out of fabric. Once I liked the block, I safety pinned it together to sew when I could. I got a few sewn yesterday, and I like what I’m seeing so far.

It made me happy to come downstairs and see my sewing machine and project strewn all over the table. I have missed sewing very much. I hope to get back to my project this afternoon, and then figure out how to finish the quilt off. I just might have to go and buy some new fabric.
