Agnes’ Knitted and Crocheted Blanket

This is a project that I started late last Summer. I finally got it finished around Valentine’s Day for Miss Agnes.

Agnes put in a request for a new blanket, and I wanted to make something unique for her. My mind went right to patchwork, but patchwork with knits and crochet. I crocheted some grannysquares, and knitted some little squares. I lined them up and kept crafting.

I packed yarn, crochet hooks, and knitting needles with me everywhere I went.

I liked trying out new knitting patterns, and crocheting different types of grannysquares too.

Knitting all of the little squares made me much more comfortable knitting.

This project was a sew as you go. Whenever I had squares ready, I would stitch them together. The blanket was coming together nicely.

I was almost done, just a few more squares to stitch together.

Finally finished!

This blanket turned out absolutely adorable, and unique just like Agnes.

It is also cute, colorful, and very cozy.

Agnes loved the finished project too. Time to get going on another project, but first yarn shopping.

Summer Quilt

I think I started a quilt for Agnes two, three, or maybe even four years ago. Last weekend, I finally finished it.

I found this fantastic vintage sheet at a yard sale sometime last year. It was the perfect size to back the quilt.

Agnes loves the bright colors, and the quilt is the perfect weight for warm Summer nights.

Maybe I’ll make another one or two in the future.

Finally Finished: Solid Grannysquare Throw

I finally finished the granny-square throw. I took some time on Monday afternoon to finish the edging, and I love the finished project.

Way back in January we made a trip to Joplin. I love shopping for yarn there. I stocked up at JoAnn’s Fabrics, and Hobby Lobby too.

I came home with lots of pretty colors.

For awhile I didn’t know what to make… Agnes had picked through the yarn, and found several colors that she wanted made into a throw. That left me with a lot of yarn, but not quite enough to make a big project.

I decided on making solid color, seven round granny-squares.

I also settled on making one hundred granny-squares.

I kept crocheting until I made one hundred. I then started hand-stitching the squares together.

I got about half-way through the project, and that’s when the big kitty became obsessed with it.

I sewed and stitched the second half while he napped on the project.

The one hundred granny-squares were all together, but I thought it needed a little something more.

So I double-crocheted an edge in grey.

This throw was fairly quick to make, and I love the colors!

Now, to finish those other two projects…

Finished Project: The Hexagon Throw

I started this project way back in July. I crocheted my first hexagon, and decided to keep going from there. I’ve wanted to make a few handmade gifts this year. I decided to make a colorful hexagon throw for my mom.

I took a quick stock of how many I had made. I mapped out a little pattern, and I then realized that I was going to have to crochet many more.

I started stitching them together, little by little.

I stitched, sewed, crocheted, and went through a lot of yarn.

I counted up all that I had crocheted, and three hundred was the count. It still needed a bit more.

So I crocheted a bit more…

Peanut came to visit the craft table…

I think I was a bit loopy after crocheting that last hundred hexagons.

Time to finish this up.

A few more stitches,

and done.

Several months of work, and four hundred hexagons, and I’ve got a gift for my amazing mom.

I hope she likes it.

I love this finished project. I just might have to make a few more of these.

Summer Sewing

I’ve had the sewing machine out a few times this Summer. I love to sew in the Summer, and this time I made a quick and easy dress for Agnes.

My mother in law found this super-cute aqua smocked Hello Kitty fabric. She picked up some for Agnes.

It was super easy to sew too. Just pin, and go.

I sewed some little straps on too.

All done, this little dress just took minutes to sew.

Agnes liked this one too.

The fabric is light and airy.

Perfect for Summer!

She is ready for a trip to the Farmer’s Market.
