The dining-room needs a change. Yesterday I started taping off the room, in hopes that I will get motivated to paint. Agnes helped too, she got to smooth out the tape. I don’t know if I will let her help with the painting though.

To Paint Or Not To Paint
We have a lot of painting projects going around our house. I’m thinking we need to paint every square inch of woodwork too.
The room in question is the foyer/living room. They are open to each other, and both rooms have some unpainted woodwork.
I think the stairs, and all of the woodwork would look pretty awesome painted bright white.
So what do you think… Paint it, or leave it?
Kitchen-work
The kitchen is the main project that we are working on. It is in need of a complete overhaul. We’ve scraped, spackled, primed, ripped out flooring, and debated paint colors.
Agnes has been “helping” too.
Right before the power-outage. We rearranged the kitchen. We moved the fridge out of it’s cubby hole, and moved the deep freezer in it’s place. The deep freezer fit perfectly, and it looks like I’ll be getting a pantry thanks to the swap. The fridge didn’t fare too well. It was acting up a bit, and not staying too cool. We cleaned it out when we moved it across the room, but it just didn’t cooperate with the change. It also started to make some terrible sounds, and refused to cool. I think it was just it’s time.
Luckily the old fridge gave up around labor day, and we did a lot of comparison shopping. James found an awesome deal, and I got a new fridge for the kitchen. I love it, and it is going to go perfectly with our kitchen redo.
Accent Wall
Our house is a funny-odd-old house. The rooms don’t seem to have enough walls. There are a lot of wide open spaces to paint, and little odd spaces to paint.
In the front of the house is the foyer. It is a room, but it isn’t a room. It is home to the staircase, and it is open on two sides. It lives right next to the living room. Which is also open on two sides. Between the foyer and the living room is the scary holiday closet. I’m not scared of holidays, the closet is just a mess and it happens to hold all of the holiday decorations. On either side of the scary closet are little walls. They don’t completely enclose the room, they are more like a half wall.
This month we grew tired of the colors in the room, so we decided to change the accent wall color.
In the foyer and the living room the accent wall was painted a deep blue-green color. I loved the color, but we just needed something new.
I got out my color-decks and poured over paint chip after paint chip. I finally spotted a color that I thought would look good in the room. It is by Sherwin Williams and it is called Alaea. It is a unique color in some light it looks almost red, in other light it looks purple, and I love it. James even likes it too.
It gave the room just a little pop of color. The painting project didn’t take too long either.
Kitchen Redux
The kitchen has become my latest obsession to redecorate. I have so many ideas spinning through my head, but it’s the kitchen… It is the room that I probably spend the most time in, and the room that is constantly in use. When is there a good time to redo the kitchen?
Well, we jumped in and started this project on Monday. We moved lots of kitchen-goods, taped and primed the walls. James also surprised me with rearranging the deep freezer and refrigerator too. I have so much room in the kitchen now.
I’ve got my color picked out for the walls, and James even worked out a bit of space for a pantry. It is going to be a big project, but I’m excited that the kitchen is finally going to look a little more like me.
