Before & After: Old, New, and Grey

This project started quite awhile ago.

The clouds grew dark, and the hailstones fell fast. They crashed into our town breaking windows, smashing siding, and leaving a lot to be repaired.

Our little house was a mess.

We had damage to our windows, roof, siding, fence, garage, you name it a hailstone smashed it.

Our roof was repaired quickly, and then we were waiting on siding. We debated colors, made plan after plan, checked bid after bid, and finally we were ready to get going on the project.

The old siding was removed, and the house was ready for a new look.

I ventured outside a few times to see how the project was coming along.

I was so pleased, the crew was doing an amazing job, and our home was coming together beautifully.

The crew replaced one exterior section at a time, and the new siding was coming along quickly.

Yesterday the last piece of siding went up, and our new old house was complete.

I am overjoyed with the finished project!

I really appreciate all of the hard work, and eye for detail that the crew delivered. They gave us a home that looks like our home, and I am really proud of it.

Home sweet home!

Our little old home is shining in her new grey siding.

Construction-time

Last week the painting got going, and this week the new siding is going up. I am so excited about the new siding. Our old house is going to be brand new.

I absolutely love the new color too. Good-bye faded yellow, hello contemporary grey. It is a little noisy, but so exciting at the same time. I’m really happy that this major project is in full swing.

Homework

I am so excited the exterior work on the house is going on as I type! The windows are going to be painted over the next two days, and the siding is going on next week (I hope). Our house is going to look brand new, and all of the hail damage will be gone. It is nice to see a change around this old house.

I’ll post some pictures soon.

Memorial Day Weekend

James was working on Memorial Day, so we decided to stay close to home. We worked on a few (much needed) projects, and even got out to my favorite antique shop. The weekend without plans, ended up being a super productive one.

We visited a local hardware shop for some Father’s Day gift ideas, and stopped for slushies too. We visited a few more local shops, and headed over to the Treasure Hunt. I lucked out and found a few pieces of Pyrex that were priced to sell. I was super happy!

We also decided to tackle a project on Sunday. The boys room has become a bit of a challenge to keep up with. James took the boys upstairs for a major de-clutter, and then we decided to add Bunk Beds to save some space.

The bunk beds took us about four hours to put together, but all of the hard work was worth it. The boys room is neat, tidy, and they each have a bit of their own space.

The boys love the new bunk beds too!

We also deep cleaned the upstairs hallway. We removed a lot of clutter, and the space is looking fantastic. I picked up some fabric yesterday to make a curtain for the hallway closet. We still have a lot of little projects to tackle around the house, but we are getting the upstairs back in shape.

Weekend Project

This weekend I had planned on hanging out, crocheting a bit, and testing out a recipe…

My hubby had a different plan in mind.

We had been talking about working on the living-room again. We are thinking about investing in some new furniture, and well the carpet really needs to go. We decided that today was the day, and we got to work.

I had never removed carpet before, but it was a fun process.

It took us about four hours to pull the carpet, remove the pad, and then take out all of the nails and staples. There was also a lot of cleaning to do. I was surprised to see all the dust and icky-dirt hanging out under the carpet.

I loved the end result of the redo. We moved in the throw-rug from the foyer, so the kids would still have a spot to play. I think we are going to look for a new throw-rug at a later date. The living-room finally matches the rest of the hardwood throughout the house, and I bet our allergies will be a bit better too.

While it wasn’t exactly what I had planned for a relaxing weekend, it was a blast. My arms are pretty sore today, but I do love working on this old house of ours.
