Another Chilly Day

The colder weather looks like it is here to stay, so I’m sticking close to home and working on decorating the house for Christmas. I’m not much of a holiday decorator, so this is a slow going project for me. I hope to have the Christmas tree up soon.

Yesterday I hung a few lights around our large leaded glass window, I and restrung a wreath with bright lights. Thade was so excited to see Christmas lights, I know he’ll really enjoy the tree too. I keep debating about keeping the decorating nice and simple, or going all out…

November Projects

Well last month I literally got nothing finished at all. I have no idea how or why that happened, so this month I am going to try harder (as Thade would say). This month is all about the big two holidays Thanksgiving and Christmas, and all of the shopping and cleaning that comes with them. Here is what I hope to get accomplished in November:

  • Start and Finish my Christmas Shopping
  • Deep Clean and Organize the Kitchen
  • Deep Clean the Dining Room for Thanksgiving
  • Deep Clean the Living Room for Thanksgiving
  • Deep Clean the Foyer for Thanksgiving
  • Deep Clean both Bathrooms for Thanksgiving
  • Finish Christmas Sewing Projects
  • Get Christmas Pictures of the Boys (or I’m going to be in trouble with the Grandma’s)
  • Start the Christmas decorating, right after Thanksgiving

I hope November is a little more productive than October was 😉 Check back in to see how the projects are going 🙂

October Project Check-In

Well I have to say that I am a little bit disappointed with myself, October is almost over and I haven’t started one single project 🙁  I was going to try and accomplish:

  • Painting the Dining Room (finished before Thanksgiving)
  • Painting my Closet
  • Cleaning and Organizing the Boy’s Closet (last month’s project)
  • Cleaning and Organizing the Utility Room
  • Starting the Christmas Sewing Projects

I can’t believe the month is almost over, and I have done nothing. GRRRR! This month  also contains James birthday and our Anniversary too. I’m planning a party for his birthday on Sunday, so I am going to spend most of the week cleaning the bottom floor. This is an ongoing task, the more I clean, the more “Hurricane Thade” messes up.  I’ve got a big list, so I had better get to it 🙂

Painting, Pumpkins, and Splinters

Thade was running across the hardwood floor yesterday, and I heard him say ouch. He ran over to me and had me kiss his big toe, and I thought all was well. At bath time, he was still complaining that his foot hurt, he lifted up the hurt toe, and on the very bottom of his left foot was a splinter, and it was in deep.

After he was finished in the bath, I sat him up on the toilet, grabbed my tweezers, and tried my hardest to get the splinter out. He screamed, he cried, he demanded Daddy, and his blanket, and that splinter would not budge. I knew what had to be done, I ran downstairs and found a brand new needle out of my sewing kit to extract the splinter. By that time Thade was very upset. I knew he was going to be scared of the needle. I remained determined and told him how exciting it was to get the splinter out. I showed him step by step what I was doing, and he calmed down. About 30 seconds later the splinter was out, and he was feeling better with a cool NASCAR Band-Aid on his foot. Continue reading »

Get Ready for Cooler Weather

Last night it got pretty cold, so I had to turn on the heater this morning. My stomach turned at the very thought of those gigantic gas bills from last year. Today I’m doing some little projects around the house to try and beat the huge gas bill.

I started off by grabbing 2 large rugs that we were storing upstairs, and I brought them downstairs to keep the hardwood floors warm. My hubby and I go back and forth on the subject of carpeting the hardwood, I hope the rugs will work for now. The rugs also became the cat-wrestling arena, they have been battling each other all day.
