Christmas Dinner and Budget

At first I was going to do my best to have a “frugal Christmas dinner” then the requests started pouring in for lots of yummy Christmas dishes, so I’m setting a budget, and still making sure that everybody has their favorites. My budget is $70.00, and that is to feed 7 adults, one picky toddler, and the little one gets delicious Baby Food. Here is what I’m serving for Christmas dinner, and the amount that I am budgeting for each dish:

Main Course:

  • Turkey $15.00
  • Ham $10.00

Sides:

  • Corn $1.00
  • Stuffing $1.00
  • Mashed Potatoes (10 lbs) $5.00
  • Crescent Rolls $3.00
  • Homemade Chicken and Noodles $10.00

Cheese and Veggie Tray:

  • Celery $2.00
  • Baby Carrots $2.00
  • Black Olives $1.00
  • Easy Cheese (one of Thade’s faves) $2.00
  • Baby Bel Cheese $3.00
  • Camembert Cheese (one of my faves) $4.00
  • Triscuits $2.00
  • Townhouse Crackers $2.00

Pantry Needs:

  • Garlic Salt $1.00
  • Poultry Seasoning $1.00
  • Chicken Broth (2 large containers) $4.00
  • Margarine $1.00

I’ll also be serving Sweet Tea (already in my pantry) for beverages. My Mother-in-law, and Sister-in-law are in charge of bringing the desserts, and my Mom is bringing the Green Bean Casserole.

I’ll be trying to save as much as I can by shopping sales, and using my coupons. Check back to see the grand total of Christmas dinner.

What family favorites are you serving for Christmas dinner?  Do you go all out, or try and keep things simple?

Cookies and More Cookies

Whew, I’m a little tired after all that baking! I got a few dozen cookies made today about 9 1/2 dozen 😉 Today I baked or no-baked:

  • No-Bake Chocolate Oatmeal Cookies (47 cookies)
  • White Chocolate Apricot Oatmeal Cookies (35 cookies)
  • White Chocolate Cranberry Cookies (32 cookies)

I thought it might be fun to keep track of how much holiday baking I’m doing. this year.  So far the cookie count is up to 114 cookies.

The Boy’s and I’ll be delivering Cookie Plates to our Doctor and the Hospital tomorrow, and I even made a small plate for our Neighbors 😉  Now I’m off for a few cookies and a glass of milk.

Christmas Cookies 2007

My goodness the oven is going to be busy 🙂 I’ve totaled up all of my Christmas Cookies that I am baking for Christmas gifts, and the count is now 21 dozen! That is a lot of cookies, 252 I think 😉 I hope I can get this accomplished. It will be fun, and maybe I’ll have a few left for us too…

Will Nico be able to bake that many cookies? Check back in to see all of the yummy treats fresh from the oven!

Sleepy Saturday

With the sounds of the rain, and the fact that both boys were up all night, I could not wake up this morning. Once again proving that Nico really isn’t a morning person. Once I finally got up and going I popped some Cinnamon Rolls in the oven, and called it good.  Thade didn’t want to try them, so he was happy to have Lucky Charms, hubby was pretty happy though 🙂

We don’t have the snow or ice just yet, but it is freezing cold. We might be taking the boys out today to go and see Santa Claus, this is going to be an interesting trip. This will be the first time that we have braved this task for either child, so we really don’t know how they will react.  I think Thade will like going, because he can tell Santa everything that he wants for Christmas, but Dylan no way, he is not too fond of new people. We’ll see how the day goes 😉

All Finished

I’m finally all finished with my Christmas shopping! Thank goodness, but the Christmas baking is another story all together. This year I did a majority of my shopping online, it makes things so much easier, and so much fun when the packages start arriving. I still have wrapping to do, but I have to wait until Thade is asleep. He is pretty good about remembering what is in the packages and then telling all about them 😉

Are you all finished Christmas shopping? Do you have a few items left to buy?
