Christmas Traditions

013

Some are old, some are new… Some we do every year and some we never get to.

With Christmas in a few days, I’ve been thinking about Christmas traditions. Every year we make cookies for Santa the night before, and I like to watch A Christmas Story at least a time or two. This year we are adding attending our Church’s Christmas eve Candle Light service with the kiddos to the Christmas tradition list. We’ll also go (weather permitting) driving around Christmas eve looking at Christmas lights. Spending time with family is always number one on the list!

So what are a few of your family’s Christmas Traditions? Are you adding any new ones to the list this year?

Holiday Blues 2009

013

The holiday blues have struck early, and they’ve got me bad this year… The stress of the impending holiday, the family to entertain, and the lack of sleep on my part has me grumpy, grumpy, grumpy. I’ve even asked Thade to not talk about Christmas presents until after Thanksgiving, but so far that isn’t working. The “cheerful” decorations are popping up all over town, and I’m wondering what happened to celebrating Thanksgiving, and why is everyone decorating so darn early?!?  I wish I could be cheerful this time of year, but it just isn’t my favorite time of year… Halloween is long gone, and that is my favorite one. Fair warning,  there will be more grumpiness to come…

This Halloween

This Halloween was a different one… It’s the first one that I wasn’t able to take my kids trick-or-treating. I was happy when my friend Maggie volunteered to take the boy’s trick-or-treating early, because they could hardly wait to go. My brother Rob also came by to visit the kiddos and the boy’s were thrilled.

James had a busy day at work, but made it home as fast as he could to take the kiddos out trick-or-treating once more. The boys had a great time, and came home with a ton of candy. Thade is already planning his costume for next year, and Dylan is doing his best to sneak into the candy bowls and eat all of the Tootsie Rolls.

I hope that everyone had a safe and very Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween To All

Yesterday, Thade had a Halloween party and parade at school. James and I didn’t want to miss it, so we bundled up the kiddos and headed to the parade.

Thade was Bat-Man!

The parade moved quickly, and we were all happy that we were there to watch. I was a little sore after the walk though, so I tried to take it easy for the rest of the afternoon.

I hope that everyone has a Happy and safe Halloween today! Have fun trick-or-treating!
