Something Stinky

I was starting to get my appetite back this afternoon, so I went to the kitchen for a snack. I thought some Triscuits and Camembert Cheese sounded yummy. The only thing was I wanted the Camembert a little melty, so I thought I would pop the cheese and crackers in the microwave for about 15 seconds. Not a good idea! My melty snack turned into a stinky snack all too quickly. Lesson learned never ever put Camembert Cheese in the microwave unless you want to clean a stinky microwave. Oh well, they can’t all be kitchen successes 😉

Todays Cleaning Might Have to Wait

I was doing so good yesterday, I even got a little ahead on the Christmas cleaning. This morning, I woke up with a migraine at 2:00 a.m., and it is still with me. I’ve taken some medicine with a large cup of coffee. Thade got chocolate milk with breakfast, to keep him a little quieter. Dylan is happily snacking on Sweet Potato Puffs, so at the moment he is slightly quiet, which really helps. How I wish I could crawl back into bed and start all over again, minus the migraine.

Gas Prices and Holiday Travel

Last Friday while running errands, I noticed it was time to stop off and put gas in the car. I drove past a few gas stations, and hoped the I could put off the task until later. Gas prices were up to $3.14 here, and are set to rise even higher with Thanksgiving this week. Ouch!

I have (maybe) three trips to make this week. We are driving to my Sister-in-Law’s for Thanksgiving, and then maybe to my Brother’s for Thanksgiving evening. I also have a day off planned (out of town 20 minute drive) on Friday. This is going to be one expensive week in the gas tank.

How are the gas prices in your area? Has the rise in gas prices changed your holiday plans?

Noon and Nothing has been Accomplished

It all began with bath-time last night. I noticed that the little one had broken out in quite a rash, we both thought it would be best if I got him out to the doctor quickly. We were both worried that he had an allergic reaction to his baby food, James stayed home with Thade and I took Dylan out to Urgent Care.

Dylan was not too happy at all. It was late, cold, and he seemed pretty sure that he was out there to get a shot. I was grateful that our hospital just opened Urgent Care, they stay open until 11:00 p.m., and we were in and out rather quickly. The Doctor said that it was baby eczema, it was irritated by cold weather, and too many baths. O.k. so I’m in a little trouble for over bathing my son, who knew… I was given a prescription to fill on Saturday.

We went back out in to the cold, and headed home. I think it was around 9:30 p.m. when we made it back, and Thade was ready for bed (so was I). I was getting everybody settled down, when James said there was another problem… One of his lenses had popped out of his glasses, and we could not find the screw from the frames anywhere. Luckily we had an eye-glass repair kit on hand. I tried and tried to fix the glasses, but had no luck. In this time though, I had to get Thade off to bed and Dylan was not happy. Dylan screamed at me for a good hour and a half, while I tried desperately to get the teeny tiny screw into the frames.

Finally at 11:00 p.m. (after nursing Dylan for the 2nd time) Dylan drifted off to dreamland, and I finally found a screw that fit the frames. Yahoo! I repaired the glasses, and happily presented them to my hubby, and then I called it a night too.

Everybody was up bright and early today. At 10:00 a.m. I thought we had better get out and get the prescription filled. Off to Walgreens we go, again, third trip this week. I took both of the boys, and hoped this would be a quick trip. We get to the Pharmacy, no lines, all right, but as usual there had to be a problem with something.  For some reason the insurance card was not playing nice with their computer system. A good 15 minute wait, and Thade getting pretty grumpy. The Pharmacist said I could go shop and they would call me when it was ready.

We walked, and walked, and walked… Thade mad in the cart, and Dylan getting heavier and heavier in the Snugli, my noggin was splitting. An hour had passed, I decided to head over to the Pharmacy and see what was going on. They said that the prescription hadn’t been filled yet, but they would hurry. Another fifteen minutes, and finally the single magical tube of calming baby cream was filled, and we were all ready to go.

It was noon by the time that we made it home, Thade was starving. Time to go and make lunch for all the boys, and find some migraine medicine for me. I still haven’t started the laundry from yesterday, the dishes are piled of every possible surface in the kitchen, and I’m completely exhausted. This is going to be one of those days, Starbucks take me away 😉

I Hate it When That Happens

Today I got both of the boys out, and all of the errands successfully run. We made it in and out of the Post Office in record time. We then went to Walgreens for diapers and drinks for James office fridge, again super speedy trip. I thought since both of the kids are being so good, and I had my next weeks list with me, lets get the Wal-Mart trip over and done with.

I loaded up Dylan in the Snugli (for the 3rd time) and Thade in the cart, and we began the massive trip. I had a huge list for next week, and Wal-Mart was packed. It took us over an hour, and I was one tired Mommy after all of that shopping. James greeted us at the door and helped unload the car, thanks again hubby.

I was putting away all of the groceries and I realized I forgot one thing… I had walked right past it twice, but failed to pick up one little package of shredded cheese for next Friday’s meal. I hate it when that happens, all of the shopping, two kids in and out of the car, and carts, and I forget one thing! GRRRRR!

I guess I’ll have to make another trip out either Monday or Tuesday, and try to beat the Thanksgiving rush. I’m sure we’ll run out of something else between now and then 😉
