Crochet Day

Well this week’s freezing weather has left behind some plumbing problems at our house… We’ve lost water to the kitchen, and half of the utility room, the half that runs the washer. So it looks like dishes and laundry are probably not going to happen today, or maybe until Monday.

I’ve called several plumbers, and they are all booked. I guess we aren’t the only ones in town with issues from the cold. I’ll keep trying though, and hope for the best.

In happier news I started yet another throw. This time it is a bright hexagon throw, and I’m about half-way finished with it. I started this one over Christmas break in hopes that maybe I would finish it during the break. It is a nice, cheery project on this grey Winter day.

I think I’ll take the rest of the day off to crochet. Oh goodness, what a day…

Holiday Overload

It took me two weeks to get everything put away from Agnes’ birthday… I’m already stressing about Christmas.

I love seeing my family, and spending time together, but the influx of items stresses me out… Agnes has also been on a dumping rampage. She tears through every room emptying every toy bin, and box in sight. I feel like I’m picking up messes constantly.

She has also been sneaking into the boys room, and redecorating her walls with crayon…

The more I scrub, the sneakier she gets with her coloring. I’m close to banishing crayons from the house.

I need to de-clutter before the holiday gets here… I just hope the stress doesn’t get the better of me.

ColdLand

I woke up this morning with another cold… Ugh, I’m going to hide out all day, and see if I can shake this bug.

I love Fall, but I am not in love with the early cold/flu season…

Well That’s A Bummer

During the weekend I had a plan to catch up on all of the dishes, and do some baking too. I was going to make a pumpkin pie for Sunday’s dinner, and a few more goodies to have on hand for weekly snacks. Dinner was in the crock pot, and the rolls were in the oven. With just two minutes to go, the oven started beeping and buzzing, and flashing F1 F1 F1, and well it died…

I’ve re-planned the menu, because I’m waiting on the Labor Day sales to find a new oven. The stove is still working, but I just can’t bake. Thade isn’t too happy about it, he loves baked goods. I think it will be a fun cooking challenge though, and maybe the kitchen will stay a little cooler too.

Here’s hoping that we find some good deals this weekend…

Non-Stop Storms

We have been hit with lots and lots of late night severe thunderstorms this week. Last night we were up at 3:00 a.m. to survey the damage.

I took this photo as the lightning flashed. We had lost one of our large trees in the storm. The weather was too rough to get out and get a good look at it, but we took a look as soon as the sun was up.

It didn’t look too good.

And that’s a two-story tree crashed into our house and yard.

It doesn’t look too great, but thank goodness everyone was safe.

We have a lot to clean up, and lots of work to be done too. Oh goodness, what a day…
