Clean it Up

Finally a day above 30 degrees!

I have been waiting for a warm day for quite awhile, my front yard was in a sorry state and desperately in need of having the litterbug garbage picked up. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing occurrence in our yard. We live on a busy street, and there are just too many litterbugs. Thade was happy to help out though, and we picked up 2 shopping bags full of icky trash.

We also cleaned out the flower bed, and I hope the Tulips will start growing better now that all of the leaves are gone. I hope that the warm weather sticks around for just a bit more, and we can work more on cleaning up the yards.

No Driving Days

This year I’m keeping track of my no driving days, and so far I’m off to a pretty good start. In January I had 5 no driving (or riding in a car) days. I’m looking forward to warmer weather, so we can get out and walk the errands, and maybe I’ll have a few extra no driving days to report.

December No Driving Days

One of my projects for the year was to green my driving routine by driving less. I tracked my days monthly, and when I looked back for the year, I noticed that I started tracking my no driving days in July. I have exactly six months of no driving data to share.

In the month of December I didn’t drive or ride in a car for 8 days out of the month. Not too bad for the last month of the year. Now for all of those no driving days:

July 08: I had 11 no driving days

August 08: I had 10 no driving days

September 08: I had 5 no driving days (Thade started school this month)

October 08: I had 4 no driving days

November 08: I had 8 no driving days

December 08: Again, I had 8 no driving days

That gives me a grand total of: 46 no driving days!

That means that out of six months I didn’t drive, or ride in a car for over a month and a half. I think that is pretty good, and pretty green too.

I had a lot of fun on my no driving days too, and I found many activities that we could walk to, that was near our home. We spent Wednesday and Saturday mornings walking to the Farmer’s market, and we even walked our bills and outgoing mail to the Post Office. Thade and I would walk to our former Church on Sunday’s too.  Both of the kiddos enjoyed the extra walks, and getting to know our town better too.

In the new year I hope to keep up with the no driving days, and keep track for the entire year. I can’t wait to see and share the results.

Eight for November

Yay! I cut way back on my driving for the month of November. I didn’t drive eight days out of the month, and I’m hope to make it 10 for December. Let’s see how the month goes.

Organizing With Glass

I love to reuse clear glass jars to organize all around the house.

The Salsa Jars make perfect containers for all of Thade’s Art Supplies. The taller jars hold markers and paint brushes perfectly. The smaller jars are great Crayon keepers too.

I’ve also used a few Jelly Jars to keep Thade’s Show and Tell Items neat and tidy

The reused jars also make an appearance to help organize the pantry.

The Recycled jars keep all of the take-out condiments organized, and my pantry neat and tidy.

What do you re-use around your home?
