A Day Out With the MOPS Girls

Yesterday was an amazing day, and it started at 5:00 a.m. I was so excited to be attending the MOPS conference in Leawood with our local MOPS Steering team. I’m joining the Steering team in the Fall, and I will be the Hospitality steering team member. The conference was great and we all got to meet many amazing mommies. I learned so many great tips, and had a lot of fun hanging out with the MOPS Moms.

James had Saturday off, so he stayed home to take care of the little guys. He did an amazing job too, the kids had a blast getting to spend Saturday with Dad. I even heard that Dad makes some pretty good breakfast. It was nice to come home though, and get lots of hugs from my boy’s.

After the conference was over, we stopped in Overland Park for dinner and ice cream too. The day was a blast, and I can’t wait to get started on the Steering team for 2009/2010.

I’ll be sending a little tote bag your way soon! Thanks again to all of the Nicostuff readers and thanks for leaving all of the comments too!

Who’s That Knocking On The Door

Thursday we had two super-cool visitors, and one sweet treat too. When we got home from our run to the grocery store, there was a knock on the door, and a yummy plate of cupcakes too.

My sweet friend Stacey and her adorable Daughter brought us over a plate full of Baby Cakes, and they were so tasty. We really appreciated the get well treat, and I’ve got to get the recipe from her too. These little cakes were so good. Thanks again!

Shaunna to the Rescue

Thank goodness for good friends, especially a good friend who offers to babysit, and lets you borrow her 4 wheel drive vehicle so you can navigate your way safely through snowy streets…

Last night I was in a panic! It was late, I was exhausted, Thade’s birthday was just another day away, and I had nothing for him, and the snow kept falling. I stayed up late to watch the area closings, and sure enough school (and preschool) was canceled. There goes my plan to shop for presents while he was in school. What on Earth was I going to do now?!?

This morning (still in a panic) I go out to the cars to get them de-iced, and the more I scrape, the faster it freezes. It is cold and I’m stressed. I go back in and give my best friend Shaunna a call, and she voulnteered to come to my rescue.

She came by to watch the kids, and even let me drive her car that was already defrosted, and had 4 wheel drive, so I would be safe. I was so relieved, I could get the birthday presents for Thade, so I offered to pick up lunch to say thanks for the babysitting. I really appreciated all of the help today, and the kids had fun too!

We had a fun day, and I’m not as stressed out as I was earlier, there will be birthday presents tomorrow, and a double layer chocolate cake too.

A Night Out

Today my hubby and I are having a night out. I’m super excited! We are taking the kiddos to a sitter, and then we are off to dinner with his co-workers. It is a belated Christmas dinner, but I know it is going to be fun. Some of the MOPS moms (and hubbies) are meeting at the same restaurant, so I hope to see some of my friends tonight too. I can’t wait to get out of here for a bit, enjoy a little break and, oh yeah, no dishes to wash tonight too.

What are your weekend plans?  Are you staying in or heading out tonight?
