The Cat Days of Summer

It is another hot one today. We had a thunderstorm roll through this morning, so it is extremely humid. The temperature is going to hit 100 today with a heat index of 110. I’m so ready for fall and cooler temps.

I’ve been feeling a bit stir crazy, so I took the boys out for errands early today. We ran to the post office and to Dollar General for kitty supplies. I think we are going to be stuck indoors for quite a while. I hope that everybody is staying cool this Summer.

105+

Today the heat index is going to be up around 105 F, that is just too hot. I took the boys out early this morning to try and beat the heat. By 9:00 a.m. it was already 85 F. We got to the store at 10:00 a.m. and by the time that we were finished it was 90 F. I hate getting the kids out in this kind of weather, but it has to be done. I plan ahead to keep them cool and comfortable for the trip.

  • I make sure and dress the boys in light colored clothing.
  • I pack a sippy cup of cool water for Thade.
  • I feed Dylan before and after we get home from the store to keep him hydrated.
  • I try to time my shopping trip for the coolest part of the day.
  • I keep the boys sitting in the shopping cart while I’m loading up the purchases. I do not want them sitting in the car even for a minute.
  • I park close to the cart return, so I don’t have to carry the boys too far.
  • When the weather gets too hot, I limit my shopping to just one store.

What are extra steps that you take to beat the Summer heat, but still get those errands finished?

Man oh man it is Monday

Thade woke up extra early this morning, and Dylan soon followed. I think I clocked in about 4 hours of sleep last night, so my noggin is hurting today.

We had lots of errands to run today, and I only have one left to do Yahoo. We visited my husband at work, went to the Dollar General, ran to the post office, put gas in the car. Oh yeah, and then went to Wal-Mart (again). Dylan still has a Doctor’s appointment to go to today, it is at 6:30 p.m. Our local clinic stays open late on Mondays which is so cool. I hope it won’t be too crowded during the evening. James is going to stay home with Thade because Dylan has to get more shots. I hope that he does well, and I hope that I don’t stress out too much. I hate seeing the little one in pain. I’m also going to check with my Doctor to see if I can start Dylan on rice cereal. He is still nursing about every two hours, and mommy is worn out. We’ll see what she says.

Goin’ Shopping

I usually shop on Mondays, but today Thade and I went out for groceries. James is off work and said he would take care of Dylan while we shopped. Thade had a lot of fun getting to run errands with just Mommy, and we were in and out of the store in under an hour. Yahoo!

Monday is going to be a busy day. We are having a new electrical line run, and Dylan has to go to the doctor for a check-up and shots too. I’m glad to have the shopping done early.

Here is the plan for today:

* Clean the kitchen
* Make banana muffins
* Make bread crumbs
* Make baby wipes
* Dishes
* Laundry
* Tidy up downstairs
* 3 loads of laundry
