Visiting Redbud

Friday we were up early, and on the way to run a few places. A local feed store was selling chickens, geese, and ducklings. I took the kids over to check them out. They were really cute, but we didn’t come home with any.

We had one more stop to make, and we headed out towards Redbud Nurseries. I was looking for a few plants for the indoors, and the outdoors too.

I absolutely love Redbud Nurseries. The kids were happy to visit there too.

Dylan loved the shaded hillside filled with large ferns, and shady plants. Agnes enjoyed the greenhouses filled with petunias and butterflies to chase.

Thade spotted a plant that he absolutely loved.

While we were running around Redbud, Thade was busy taking pictures. He took some pretty fantastic photos too.

This photo was my very favorite…

I think we’ve got a budding photographer on our hands. I’ll be handing over the camera over to him whenever we are out and about.

We filled up a wagon full of flowers and plants. While we were checking out, the kids got to pick out ice-pops to cool off. They were thrilled.

I had filled a few pots with new plants for the backyard. We had to move them to the front porch last night. Miss Mia thought they were a cool pup-bed for her…

I hope the little Amethyst plants can bounce back after the puppy squishing.

We started a little rock garden in the front yard with pretty blooms for the butterflies. We also have a few new houseplants to tend too.

I just need to get a few photos of them…

Away For A Day

We don’t live too far from Kansas City, but we don’t get up there nearly enough. My brother invited us up for the day, and I couldn’t say no. He had tickets for all of us to go to the Packers and Chiefs game at Arrowhead Stadium, and well the Packers are James’ favorite team, so we really had to go.

We packed our bags for an overnight stay, and we were on the way.

We were greeted by this little cutie when we got to my brother’s house.

We hung out at Rob’s for just a bit, and then we headed off to the stadium.

I hadn’t been to a Chiefs game in years, and this was James’ very first game.

We were all excited, and Rob had crazy-awesome seats.

We were headed to the ground level, visitors side, right by the end-zone!

Seriously! This was crazy, I have never been this close to the field.

The game was fantastic!

Arrowhead stadium is so loud. It is truly Chiefs Kingdom there.

Our time together at the game went by too fast…

We headed back to Rob’s. He was so kind to let us stay at his house for the night.

We were going to spend most of the day in the city, and head back to the Fort by dinner-time.

We visited lots of tasty Kansas City places. We had the best donuts ever at Lamar’s, and we had lunch at Rob’s favorite place too.

We also visited the Argosy casino, I had never been there before.

It was such an amazing trip, and so great to get away for a bit too. Thanks again to my brother Rob, for making it all happen. I can’t wait to visit again soon.

Over The Weekend

Last weekend was a three day weekend for the kiddos, and we had a little road trip in mind. James and I were planning on getting some clothes for his upcoming convention, and my mom was happy to watch the kiddos while we were out.

We loaded up the kiddos, left early, and headed to Joplin. We were planning on spending the day, and the weather was awesome.

Before we went to Nana’s house, we drove the kiddos by the church that we were married in. It is a lovely church. Aww, happy memories.

James and I headed out to go to lunch, and do some shopping. We had a few stores in mind, but I really wanted to go to Hobby Lobby. He went too, he didn’t mind, and I came home with lots of yarn.

After lunch and clothes shopping, we picked up the kiddos and took them to the mall. Nana went too, and when we got there the boys headed to the arcade, and we girls headed to the fabric store.

We had an awesome time. Agnes loves to look at fabric and yarn. Our little trip reminded me of when my Na-na used to take me fabric shopping when I was little.

We took Agnes to get a cookie. The boys wern’t ready to leave the arcade just yet.

After a bit at the mall, the kids were ready to go back to Nana’s house, and James and I were ready to head to Downstream Casino.

The sun was setting, and the weather was starting to get a bit chilly.

I think it has been cold every time that I have visited Downstream.

I was more than happy to be out on a date with my super-cute hubby.

We visited the casino for a bit, and then headed to dinner.

And oh my goodness, it was crazy good. We had Prime Rib, Fried Catfish, and so many yummy sides too.

There were lots of yummy desserts too.

The day away was so much fun, and the kiddos had a blast too. One of the things that I love about living in the four states is waking up in KS, lunch in MO, and dinner in OK. Three states, and one super fun road trip.

Carthage Picnic

We’ve been invited a few times before, but this year the kids were at the perfect age to go to The Assessor’s Office Yearly Picnic. It is in Carthage, MO and the park was beautiful. My mom’s super nice boss hostessed the picnic, and we all had a fantastic afternoon.

There were many different areas of the park.

The kids loved the playground that was close by. It was just the right size for my little kiddos. There was a great turn-out for the picnic too, and my little ones made some nice new friends.

0062

We had a delicious lunch too.

3760

The food was amazing. We had BBQ and everyone brought a dessert. There was delicious lemonade, and homemade ice cream too.

0023

One of the coolest parts of the day was that Kiddieland was reserved for our group for an hour for the kids to play.

0034

This was the opening day of the park, and the unveiling of the newly restored Carousel.

3765

There were lots of fun rides for the kids too.

3768

Agnes absolutely loved Kiddieland. This was her first time riding the rides at an amusement park. I couldn’t keep her off the rides, once she rode the cars. She would have stayed all day if I would have let her.

3770

The boys had a lot of fun too. Thade loves to ride amusement park rides, and Dylan loved the cars too. The Carthage Kiddieland is a great park if you have younger kids. My oldest had a blast, and the younger kids were able to safely ride the rides too.

3776

There was a train that drove through the park too. All of the kids loved to ride the train.

3782

The carousel was  beautiful. I think the kids (and Nana) rode the carousel two or three times.

3783

Agnes loved the pretty little horses.

0044

After the hour at Kiddieland we met up with the group again for some fun games for the kids and grown-ups too. There was a pinata, and a bubble gum bubble blowing contest. The boys got a ton of candy. The picnic was so much fun. I am very thankful that we were invited, and I hope that we can go again next year.

As the afternoon was passing by, we had a few more stops in Carthage. I love to drive around there. Carthage is a beautiful Civil War town, and it is full of old Victorian homes. We made a trip over to a sale at Goodwill, and then my mom took us out for ice cream. We sat in Braum’s for a bit,  and enjoyed the air conditioning. The kids were pretty tired on the way home, and Agnes slept until we made it to Nevada. It was such a fun day. The kids can’t wait to go back to Carthage.
