Monthly Crochet Review: February

February was extra cold, so that meant that I was able to spend quality time at the craft table.

I picked up some yarn for my birthday. I had a new project in mind.

My brother sent me a super-cool birthday gift! He sent me a big box of yarn, he knows me so well.

I’m focusing most of my time still working on these three Christmas Gifts.

The mod granny-square blanket is almost complete. I have just two more rows of granny-squares to go.

The African Flowers blanket is coming along. I’m one third of the way complete with the crochet work.

The granny-burst blanket only has two completed rows. I still have another thirteen to complete.

I did complete a few crochet projects.

I finally got all of the granny-square pillows stuffed, and in place.

They turned out super comfy, and I even added one to our bedroom.

I had this funny stash of tapestry wool that I had picked up at the antique store. I decided to gather up all of the wool, and make a scarf.

It was a quick weekend project.

The new scarf is very warm too. It came in handy for all of the recent freezing weather, and snow we’ve been having.

I’ve also started working on another blanket. This one is my Walker Blanket. I’m crocheting it as we are watching the Walking Dead on Sunday’s.

I’m using extra bulky yarn, so it is moving along quickly.

I hope to finish it soon. It is extra warm, and cozy.

More Cold Weather Is On The Way

Today it was in the 50’s and oh so lovely, by midnight, it is supposed to snow again. Oh goodness, I am more than ready for Spring weather.

I got the house stocked up, and I picked up a little bit of yarn too. Just in case we get snowed in over the weekend.

I’ve made a batch of Cinnamon Rolls.

I started a new book this week too. I think I’m up to number five for the year.

I’m also working on three different blankets (so far) for Christmas.

I think I’m set, bring on the snow!

Valentine’s Day Pillows

I started these last month, and finally got them stuffed and on the Summer daybed.

I wanted a little more color for the daybed, and new cushions would do the job.

I decided on making giant granny-squares. They are easy to crochet, and duplicate.

I picked out lots of lovely Valentine hues for the cushions.

I got out the sewing machine, and stitched four pillow liners. Then came the fun part, all the stuffing.

They turned out nice and bright, and extra comfy too.

Perfect for a nap on a lazy Saturday.

I took one of the Lilac and Grey pillows upstairs, it looks perfect on our bed. Just a little hint of color.

Monthly Crochet Review: January

January was a great month to finish up some big projects, and also start work on Christmas gifts.

I stocked up on some new yarn, and organized my stockpile into projects.

My goals for the month were to finish the King-sized blanket once and for all, finish up the grey throw, and make a few Valentine’s Day pillows for the Summer daybed.

I made a quick three hour scarf as a gift for a very kind teacher.

I worked on some grannysquares too.

I also started working on a third blanket for Christmas.

I see lots of little squares in my future.

I practiced the triple-crochet stitch.

A little more practice here and there, and I think I’ll get the hang of it.

I was thinking that the house could use a few more pillows. With Valentine’s Day coming up, I decided that Valentine hued big and comfy granny-square pillows would do the job.

I made enough for four pillows. Now I just need to sew some liners, and stuff them.

The Grey Throw was next on my list to complete. This project was fairly quick.

I’ve been working on it here and there during the evenings.

It is one of the big kitty’s favorite nap spots.

The finished throw is extra cozy, and there is plenty of snuggle room.

I really liked this project. It was easy to crochet, and it added a little more warmth to the bedroom.

Lastly, the beast that I have been working on for about a year-and-a-half-or-so.

I decided that this was the month that I was going to complete the king-sized blanket once and for all.

I crocheted until I ran out of yarn, weaved in all of the ends, and called it done.

I love it! This was my biggest project as of yet, and I am really happy with the completed project.

It fit our bed nicely, and I love how warm this blanket is. It is perfect for cold Kansas weather.

Now that February is in full swing I’ve found myself working on the three Christmas blankets whenever I have a free moment. I also started a project for me. I’ll have some more photos up soon.

Quiet Time

After school the boys usually bring home a bit of homework. It can been tricky to keep the Miss quiet while the boys are working.

I look forward to the quiet times. I can catch up on my ongoing crochet projects, or just breathe in the little bit of silence.
