I Found It

I have been searching everywhere for one single skein of boysenberry yarn. I really want to finish the afghan that I’ve been working on.

While we were in Joplin I made a stop at every store that carries yarn. By stop #4, I still hadn’t found it.

On the way to OK I asked James to stop off at the 7th street Wal-Mart so I could check just one more place, and there it was. An entire big bin full of boysenberry yarn.

Yay! I can finally finish this project.

D.I.Y. Project: January

I finally got one done! I’m planning out a few homemade projects to do during the year, and I’ll be featuring them at least once a month.

This one was simple, and I finished it in a weekend.

We have a big old drafty house, and that comes with a big old drafty front door. It was in need of a draft-dodger, and I didn’t want to buy one. I decided to crochet one instead.

I sat down in front of the door, and made a chain as long as the door, plus a little bit more. I used just one skein of yarn, and crocheted until I was almost out.

I then folded it over to make it a bit thicker, and I stitched it closed. It fit the door just right, but it keeps disappearing. Agnes thinks it is a new scarf for her.

Broken Resolutions

It’s only week two into the new year, and I’ve already broken two of my resolutions.

Ugh, so the first one I broke was cutting back on soda. I had cut back to just one can a day, and I was doing pretty good. Then I got sick again, and the only thing that sounded good was Dr Pepper, hello two cans a day. I might have snuck in a late night Mountain Dew a time or two too.

The next broken resolution, finish a project, any project. I decided that this was the weekend that I was going to finish James’ afghan.

I’ve been working on it for over two months, and I’m down to the last little bit. I ran out of Boysenberry yarn, so yesterday I headed out to Wal-Mart to see if it was back in stock. It wasn’t, and I don’t know when it will be back. I still want to crochet though.

There goes that resolution.

I started two new projects yesterday. I’m working on a door draft dodger for the front door, and an all green afghan for Dylan. Hopefully the shades of green yarn will stay in stock.

What about you… How are you doing with your new year’s resolutions?

My First Crocheted Blanket

I’ve been working on this crocheted afghan for almost a month. It is really starting to look like a blanket. I pack it along with me when I’m waiting for the boys to get out of school, and I work on it in the evenings too.

The kiddos have been asking for afghans too, and James has already claimed this one as his. I see a lot of crocheting in my future. I hope I get some more yarn for Christmas.

Crocheting Around The Clock

I have been crocheting for over a month now, and I can’t stop. It is so much fun, and it is a great little project to work on in the evenings too. I have been making lots of scarves, pot holders, and I’ve started working on an afghan too. I need to make a yarn run though.

So much fun, but now I don’t want to do anything else…
