March’s Tasty Treats

March was a very busy month. The kids were on Spring Break, we celebrated Dylan’s eighth birthday, and I also had a Cookie Catering gig to bake for. I spent a lot of time in the kitchen, and I have a few photos to share with you.

March brought along my hubby’s assistant manager’s birthday. I made her a big batch of Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies to celebrate.

I also made a batch of tiny ones for the kiddos and James. They were gone in a flash.

March also brought along Pi Day 3.14.15, so I made a few pies to celebrate the day. I made a RR Cherry pie, and a Peach with Mixed Berries pie also. They were both pretty darn tasty.

We celebrated Spring’s arrival with a Cherry Jell-O Cake. This cake is always a family favorite.

Before we knew it, it was time for Dylan’s birthday, and a Cookie Catering gig to bake for too. I think I spent three solid days in the kitchen baking.

And, oh goodness, I was so stinking busy that I only took two photos…

For Dylan’s birthday I made thirty Cupcakes for school, and a triple layer Red Velvet Cake, with freshly made Frosting. When we celebrated his birthday with family, I made a batch of Homemade Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, and a Chocolate Bundt cake.

For the Cookie Catering Gig I made Cherry Pie Bars, two dozen Cakerdoodles, two dozen Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies, Cupcakes, and one Chocolate Bundt Cake. The desserts were gone in a flash.

I’ve been taking a little break from baking this week. I’m still tired from the last few weeks of craziness.

September’s Tasty Treats

During the month of September I lived in the kitchen. I was cooking around the clock to try and keep the kiddos full, I also had a cookie catering gig to bake for. I have lots of photos to share from my kitchen.

I made several batches of Chocolate Chip Cookies. I need to get in the habit of making more cookie dough ahead, and keeping it in the fridge to bake during the week.

Homemade Pizza and Wings have become a Football night staple!

I tested out a batch of Cinnamon Breadsticks. The kids didn’t like them too much, but I thought they were really tasty. The one downside I had a bit too much Cinnamon topping on them, and it made a gigantic mess in the oven.

Sundays over here are baking days. I made a RR Cherry Pie, Chocolate Snack Cake, and a whole bunch of Butter Rolls too.

The RR Cherry Pie has become my hubby’s favorite.

Thade’s favorite are the Butter Rolls. He has even requested them in place of a birthday cake, when his birthday rolls around.

I’ve been using what I had on hand, and cleaning out the pantry. I made a batch of Butterscotch Brownies (I swear they were called Blondies when I was a kiddo). I loved them, the kids not so much. They said they couldn’t be called brownies, they were not chocolate.

Midway though the month it was time to make a massive amount of cookies for the cookie catering gig.

There were Caramel-chocolate cookie bars, Chocolate Chip cookies, Candy bar cookies, Triple Chocolate chip cookies, and Cakerdoodles. I had made over twelve dozen. The turnout for the lunch was great, and the cookies disappeared quickly. I think next time I’ll have to double the amounts.

The family had requested a Cinnamon Cake for dessert. This cake disappears way too quickly.

When it was the first day of Autumn,

I made a Pumpkin Pie to celebrate.

Pumpkin Pie is Dylan’s favorite!

Pumpkin Pie makes an awesome late night snack too.

I also made a Dutch Apple Pie. I’m usually the only one that eats it though, my family just isn’t a fan.

Oh well, more for me. I like mine with a big scoop of Caramel Ice Cream.

Now that October has arrived, I’m already thinking of Thanksgiving pies. I’ve already tested a new recipe, and it was a hit with my hubby. I have lots of birthday treats to make this month too. James and Agnes both have October birthdays. Time to get to it, maybe I can get a few dozen cookies baked before the boys are home from school.

September’s Tasty Treats

I had lots of yummy dishes going on in the month of September. I broke in my new oven, and got back to baking. Here are a few photos from my kitchen.

My gardening buddy brought me some fresh tomatoes that he had grown. They were so delicious with pasta and broccoli. I might have to give tomato growing a try next year.

Before the new oven arrived, I made lots of no-bake goodies. The kids were pretty happy with this batch of Rice Krispies treats.

I also used the waffle maker. I made up a big batch for breakfast for dinner night. I love Belgian Waffles, and they freeze well too.

Finally the new oven arrived, and just in time too. I had a cookie catering gig in just a few days, and I needed to break in the new oven and stove.

I tested a batch of Chocolate Chip Cookies to get my timing down. They were close, but they needed a bit of adjusting.

The second batch was perfect. I was making a big batch of Giant Chocolate Chip cookies, and brownies for the cookie catering gig. I took this plate over to my neighbors.

I also made Cakerdoodles for the cookie catering gig. I shared these with the neighbors too.

One large Cherry Pie,

and one large Peach Pie were also requested for the cookie catering gig.

All packed up and ready to go to the lunch.

Since I had leftover Rice Krispies, I made up a recipe for Peanut-free Scotcheroos. My kiddo with the allergy didn’t care for them, so I ended up eating them all…

I made a Chocolate Bundt Cake from scratch. I don’t know why I didn’t do this sooner. It wasn’t too tough to make, and I had everything on hand to make it. The cake was moist and delicious too.

The Homemade Chocolate Glaze was easy to make too. Luckily the family approved, and I’ll be making this recipe again soon.

I made a Pumpkin Pie for the first day of Autumn. Nothing says Hello Fall, quite like pie does.

My neighbor shared her sourdough starter with me. I gave it a try, and baked two loaves of bread. They were so delicious. I have been feeding the starter, and making lots of different types of breads.

One very rainy day. I took pies to my hubby’s co-workers. One was Cherry, and the other was Dutch Apple. Surprise pies are the best.

I finished off the month by baking more Chocolate Chip Cookies. You would think they would be sick of them by now, but no, they love them. I guess I’ll keep baking them.

Speaking of Chocolate Chip Cookies, I’m pre-heating the oven right now to make another batch. The boys have an early-out day at school, and Thade is having a friend over for the afternoon. That calls for more cookies.

Baking Day

Today I’m spending the day in the kitchen. I’m supplying the desserts for tomorrow’s lunch at my hubby’s workplace. I’m super happy to be back in the kitchen too.

I’ll be baking two kinds of pies, brownies, giant chocolate chip cookies, and cakerdoodles too. Time to break in this new oven, hope I still have my timing down.

Cookie Baking

Today I’ll be in the kitchen for most of the day. I’ve got a cookie catering gig set for tomorrow, and I’m doing some of the prep work today.

I don’t mind though, I love spending time in the kitchen. I’ll be making Homemade Brownies, Cakerdoodles, Iced Sugar Cookies, and Chocolate Chip Cookies for the catering gig.

I also need to make some Ham & Cheese Rolls for the boys, and some Banana Muffin Bars too. We’ll see if I get to those. It is going to be a busy day, better get to it.
