Holiday Housekeeping

My hubby is home on vacation this week, and we are working on the house. I have a few items that I would like to have completed before we host Thanksgiving.

We have worked on cleaning out the utility room storage shelves. We also de-cluttered the dining room, so there is plenty of room for Thanksgiving. We’ve made several trips out with contractor bags, and many out of use items are living in the garage.

We have also been getting the house ready for Winter. Today we took the window air-conditioning units out of the upstairs windows. We’ll be caulking the windows, and putting up window kits this year too. Hopefully this will keep the upstairs a bit warmer, and help out with energy costs too.

I hope to sneak in a trip to the Antique stores while James is home… I’d love to find some more vintage Pyrex to add to the collection.

Better get back to it. The big kids will be home soon, and I’ve got another load of laundry to fold.

Holiday Overload

It took me two weeks to get everything put away from Agnes’ birthday… I’m already stressing about Christmas.

I love seeing my family, and spending time together, but the influx of items stresses me out… Agnes has also been on a dumping rampage. She tears through every room emptying every toy bin, and box in sight. I feel like I’m picking up messes constantly.

She has also been sneaking into the boys room, and redecorating her walls with crayon…

The more I scrub, the sneakier she gets with her coloring. I’m close to banishing crayons from the house.

I need to de-clutter before the holiday gets here… I just hope the stress doesn’t get the better of me.

Agnes’ To Do List

Most weekdays I make a little list of things to do. I check off my items one by one, after the chore is done. The other day Agnes grabbed her magna-doodle board, and started drawing her to do list too.

She had two chores on her list. She needed to feed the cat, and water the outdoor plants.

She was pretty happy when she checked everything off of her list.

This Week’s Cleaning List

I’m back to my list-making. I was folding laundry last night, and I had a thought of what I wanted to tackle this week. I grabbed my notepad, and here is what I hope to get accomplished this week.

  1. Boy’s Room!!!!! This room is in need of a major overhaul
  2. Bin on my desk
  3. Microwave cart drawer
  4. Junk drawer in kitchen
  5. Storage under the kitchen sink
  6. Under the sink upstairs bathroom storage
  7. Nicole’s bathroom shelf
  8. Thade’s closet ( I tackled this chore the first thing this morning)
  9. Upper kitchen shelving

Bonus Cleaning Tasks

  • Craft cabinet
  • Small 2 shelves in the kitchen
  • Nicole’s car
  • Top of the craft cabinet

I’m also trying to use what I have on hand to organize kept items. I’ve been working on the boy’s room so far this morning, and I’m  about two hours in to the deep clean. I’m already tired…

End Of Summer Cleaning

This week is the first full week that the boys are back to school. I’m spending the week tiding up our house. I’ll be cleaning out drawers, organizing toy bins, and catching up on dishes and laundry too. The boy’s room needs a lot of work, I’ll probably be in there for most of the week.

Time to get to cleaning.
