Trying to keep up

Well this was the month that I decided to keep up with my cleaning schedule in my homemaker’s journal, and I haven’t done so well. The in laws were in town and camped out in the living room on Friday and Sunday, so I got nothing done. Every day I seem to be playing catch up with yesterday’s chores. Not a good start to my month.

Today I saw on the list that I was going to be cleaning the stairway. An easy area to clean, and I’ll feel like I got something done. Thade was playing quietly while Dylan took a nap, and I saw the perfect opportunity to clean. I gathered my supplies and decided to dust and Pledge the spindles first, before Swiffer vacuuming the stairs. I started at the top of the stairs, sprayed my Pledge, grabbed my cleaning cloth, and got a gigantic splinter in my finger on the very first spindle that I cleaned. I pulled the gigantic splinter out of my finger and proceeded to clean. I finally got the stairway cleaned and vacuumed without further injury. Tomorrow I am supposed to clean my husband’s home office, but I don’t know if I’m quite brave enough to tackle that mess.

Cleaning Schedule

For the past few days I have been working on a homemaker’s journal. A close friend “M” told me about hers and I thought it sounded like a great idea. Mine so far has a list of my monthly menus, shopping lists with coupons, B-B-Q list for the 4Th of July, and a cleaning schedule. I’m a little stuck on the cleaning schedule… If you have any ideas, please feel free to leave me a comment. Here is the list of areas that I clean:

Utility room/downstairs bathroom- Day to clean:1,14,26
Kitchen- Day to clean:2,15,27
Dining Room – Day to clean:3,16
Living Room- Day to clean:4,17,28
Foyer – Day to clean:5,18
Stairway- Day to clean:6,19
Upstairs Hallway/ Stockpile Closet- Day to clean:7,20
Hubby’s Office/Closet – Day to clean:8,21
Upstairs Bathroom/Closet- Day to clean:9,22,29
Master Bedroom/Closet -Day to clean:10,23
Boy’s Room/Closet – Day to clean:11,24,30
Back Porch/Backyard- Day to clean:12,25
Front Porch/Front Yard- Day to clean:13,26

I have assigned each area a day of the month that I can clean, along with my everyday picking up. I’m open to suggestions to make the job easier. I hope that this helps me out with the cleaning around here. I need all the help that I can get…

Putting away the stockpile

First off I have to say my mom totally rocks!!! She visited us on Saturday, and brought a trunk-load of diapers too. She is too great, and I really appreciate all of those diapers. I’m a lucky girl, and my boys are lucky to have such an amazing Nana.

So today I’m putting away all of the stockpile items. Here is what I got:

*3 12 packs of Dr Pepper
*3 cases of Pull-Ups
*2 Jumbo packs of Target Training Pants
*1 Jumbo pack of size 2 diapers
*1 case of Baby Wipes
*All Free and Clear small and mighty detergent
*24 silicone cupcake cups

She also brought lots of goodies for me too. I really appreciated all of the help with the boys, and all of the much needed items for my stockpile.

Sleepy Time

I am so tired today, and I really didn’t get that much accomplished. I cleaned the stairs, and finished a few loads of laundry. I still have a huge pile of dishes that need to be washed, but I’m way too tired to get them done. I’m beat and ready to call it a night, well after I watch Project Runway.

A break in the heat

Thade is down for a nap, the weather is much better, and the weekend is finally here. I’ve gotten a few more projects done for the house, and I’m all caught up on the laundry. Cleaning the kitchen and doing the dishes are next on my list, but for now sitting on the couch is first on my to do list.
