Weekend Rewind

Last weekend was busy, busy, busy. On Saturday James and I celebrated our sixth anniversary, and he surprised me with a dozen long stemmed red roses. They are so beautiful, after six years he is still full of surprises. We exchanged gifts, and I was so happy to receive one of my favorite shows “Coupling” on dvd. I got all four seasons. With the late nights that I’m pulling, I’m very happy to have some great dvd’s to watch 🙂

We also drove the boys by the church that we were married in, and we went out to lunch and a movie too. It was so nice just having a day together, we’ll have to do that more often.

Babyland aka the Living Room

My living room is one big cluttered babyland at the moment, and I am one tired Mommy. Today I cleaned the Jumperoo for Dylan, I forgot how huge this jumper is. I also cleaned the playpen, another huge item. The living room was already getting a little crowded with toys and too much stuff. The addition of two more giant baby items has put the living room at full capacity for toddler and baby gear.

The good part Dylan loves the Jumperoo. He has had a great time bouncing today. I guess I’ll just have to get used to the mess for a little while 😉

Rainy Wednesday

Today it is cool and rainy, a perfect day to stay at home and clean 😉 I went all out for last nights dinner and I have the mountain of dishes to prove it. Once Dylan is up and has had breakfast I’m tackling the kitchen mess first thing today.

Dylan was up about every 2 hours last night, his poor gums are giving him so much trouble. Today I’m keeping his teethers chilled  in the fridge, and the orajel on hand to help with the pain.

I wish there was more that I could do to help out the little guy. Any tips on soothing the teething woes would be greatly appreciated.

September’s To Do List

This month I have decided to get a few projects (that should have been done a long time ago) finished. I’m using only what I have on hand, and trying hard not to purchase anything new for redecorating. With a whole month, I hope to get these projects completed:

  • Clean and organize the boy’s closet
  • Clean, organize, and paint my closet
  • Clean and decorate foyer
  • Clean and organize kitchen
  • Clean and organize utility room

I’m going to be tagging unused items for a garage sale. Its funny now that I have two boys with lots of clutter, I want to live in a minimalist home 😉

Scrubbing the Floors and everything else

Today I took one look at the kitchen and decided it needed a top to bottom clean. This might take me a while, as Dylan is not being too cooperative. I decided to make up some homemade soft cleaner to help out with the task of scrubbing the base boards, the walls by the trash can, the sink, the fridge, and stove.

I used:
Equal parts-Baking Soda ( 2 tablespoons)
Equal parts- Ajax Ruby Red Grapefruit dish liquid, use what you have on hand(2 tablespoons)
Mix well until it forms a light paste.

I grabbed one of my old dish sponges, and an extra bowl of warm water (for rinsing) and got to scrubbing. I found that once I started I couldn’t stop, the bright pink homemade soft scrub did the job beautifully. The scrub also smells great, and kept my hands nice and soft. I see many more cleaning projects in my future.
