Almost Finished

I’m finally all caught up on the dishes! I also only have 2 loads of laundry left to go, and I’m all caught up there too. The Living Room toys are another story, it is a little hard to organize while your toddler digs out everything as you are picking up. The toys and clutter are driving me crazy, I need to get the room cleaned up and in order soon. I might have to sneak downstairs late, or wake up extra early to get the cleaning job done.

This afternoon I plan on baking a batch of Banana Muffins some for the freezer and some for snacks. My Hubby has offered to go and pick up Subway for dinner, I think I might just take him up on the offer, no need to dirty up more dishes today 🙂

Still Iced In

My hubby reported in that the side streets are a sheet of ice, and in terrible condition today. It looks like we are going to spend another day indoors, time to think of some fun things to do with Thade, he is moping around the house today. I’ll be working on cleaning my closet (again), and de-cluttering and organizing the Living Room. We have way too many toys downstairs, and I need to get a system in place to take care of all of the clutter.

I also hope to get all of the dishes washed and all caught up today too. And then there are those 4 loads of laundry that need put away upstairs, and those 3 loads that need washed, it looks like another day of catch-up work 😉

Are you iced/snowed in today, or is the weather better in your neck of the woods?

Cleaning Up

We are iced in today, so I’m glad that we got all of the errands finished during the weekend. Since it is way too yucky outside, I’m cleaning the house inside.  I’ve already gotten a lot accomplished, but there is still a lot to be done this afternoon.

This morning I started cleaning upstairs, and organizing my closet(so messy). I would really like to paint my closet and get all of the clutter under control! I might need to put Canvas Bins on my birthday wish list. I got all of the rooms swept and new sheets on the beds. Next I need to empty all of the trash cans, but Dylan is napping, so I’ll wait a little later on that task.

This afternoon I have been catching up on all of the dishes. I’m down to just 1-2 sink-fulls left that still need washing. Thade had fun playing Play-Doh on the kitchen table, while Mommy washed the endless pile of sippy cups and tiny spoons. I need to get better at staying on top of all of the dirty dishes. I’m also on my second load of laundry, and I’ve swept and Swiffered downstairs too.

I’m pretty happy with all that has been done so far, I wish my closet was a little cleaner 😉 I guess if we are still iced in tomorrow, I’ll get to clean on my closet a little bit more…

My Kitchen is a Little Cleaner

This is where my dirty dishes usually hang out, while waiting to be cleaned… Today I’m all caught up on the dishes 🙂 Yahoo for Nico!!!

I did find a bit of a rust spot on my counter top though, so I needed to tackle that job and get rid of that stain. I could either get out the caustic chemicals (which give me a headache), or try a greener approach. I chose the greener clean for the job. I made a soft scrub of equal parts Lemon Ajax with Bleach Alternative and Baking Soda, a scrubber sponge that was in my stash of used sponges, and good old elbow grease. I scrubbed and scrubbed and the stain is completely gone! My kitchen also smells Lemony fresh, instead of chemically fresh.

A Little Greener in my Kitchen

This year I’m trying to “Go Green” a little bit at a time. I’ve already got a bit of a start to my project 🙂 My Mom brought me this great bottle of Seventh Generation Free & Clear Dish Liquid, and I love it! It is very gentle on my hands, and does a great job getting the dishes clean. My kitchen feels a little greener all ready.

Today I also had a cleaning task to tackle, my garbage disposal was getting a little stinky. I used Dried Orange Peels and Baking Soda to freshen up the garbage disposal, and it worked out great. The “garbage disposal cleaner” was easy on the budget as I had everything on hand, and very environmentally friendly too.
